Just hit the 2 month mark of being gamble free!
I wouldnt have been able to do it without joining Gamstop, all accounts were closed in a few hours and i havent touched it since. I signed up after a big loss and chose the 5 year block
Used to spunk around £1500 on slots each month and can say its so much better having money in the bank and being able to do things, since quitting ive paid off some debts and been on holiday which i wouldnt have been able to do without stopping.
I would urge everyone to sign up to gamstop its a real life changer

Keep it up, glad you are doing nice things with the extra money!
26th June 2019 at 10:04 pm #71979Well done mate. That’s an awesome achievement. If you ever get an urge there’s always some on here to discuss it with. Roll on the next 2 months.
26th June 2019 at 10:18 pm #71977Well done mate I’m just going on 2 weeks now and it ain’t easy even with using gamstop it still takes willpower to stay away from casinos and bookies. As gamblers I think most of us at some point or other have lost the value of money and taking a step back for a while really helps it hit home how much the casinos used to hit us for.
Just think how much you’ll have to yourself once completely debt free and no casino vacuuming the money out of your account each month. 🙂
Keep it up mate!

That was my problem i signed up to gamstop then went in arcades. What was the point in using gamstop. 3 weeks ago i decided to stop all slots betting and online poker ( mates account). Your right it’s not easy and i don’t know if I’ll keep it up but im going to try my hardest so please don’t fall into the trap i did of just substituting one form of gambling for another.
26th June 2019 at 10:59 pm #71994Brilliant!!! What better motivation than having money to spend on yourself. Be careful though as you gain extra pennies you may find yourself buying more useless crap (maybe just me) 😛 Better to atleast have something to show for your earned cash though 😀
27th June 2019 at 12:05 am #71997Unfortunately had I also fell into that trap actually benefited from it at first had some great cash outs mainly from huge wins on extra chilli but now after the weekend I had I’ve had to stop altogether I’m on gamstop just used an account of my partners and it’s all went down hill so I’ve told her to never let me use it again as I’ve ticked up more debt and I can’t take the stress and stuff from gambling anymore fantastic when your winning but when you lose which in reality is majority of the time the bad always overweighs the good and in the end I’m just ruining my life just gonna have to stick to the videos from now on gonna be hard but I’ll get there in the end!

Yeah it’s such a hard habit to kick mate..Ive never really been one for the bookies personally…I did used to go in when I was younger and play but always hated the atmosphere and generally most of the people I met in there who more often than not would badger me for a few quid or start telling me what numbers to play and just generally annoying the fck out of me. As soon as I found online gambling Ive never been back in one but literally the day after signing up to gamstop while walking past Willy Hill I had such a strong urge to go in and place a few quid in.. thankfully I was late for work so I didn’t have time ??. I can’t imagine the urge will ever go away it may not be as strong after a while but I reckon I’ll always be a gambler at heart.

Same mate. I was born a gambler. I’ve no idea what the next week or month will bring. Haven’t got a clue. Could fall off the wagon anyday. I’m not giving up my sat night poker though. It’s only a tenner and i enjoy it. The rest I’ve had enough of. Said before that’s why i never tried to persuade you to organize another tgc v biam cos i thought you may end up on gamstop yourself. If i can stay stopped i going to do some comps on here for money. Might just be only £50. Was going to start with date and time of xbobs new born. I’d get more fun out of that than having a lapse.

Sorry didn’t see this post mate or else would of replied last night. I sincerely hope you do get there in the end. It’s certainly not easy and as much as gamstop is a great tool to help. A gambler will always find a way if they choose. I think it’s taken a while for me to realise it’s all down to the individual in the end. Good luck and there’s plenty of us on here if needed.

Nice one. Keep it up. Mines 8 months tomorrow it gets easier. Although I’ve been tempted recently. I worked out how much I lost last year that’s helped me not gamble, just thinking what I could have had. I was taking out loans, payday loans and credit cards to gamble it was ridiculous.
27th June 2019 at 10:51 am #72007This is a great thread. Not just because of the success of the op in quitting but also showing others they are not on their own. ?
