Alright guys I’ve been getting loads of emails about legislation changes coming into effect on the 7th in which verification seems to be the main theme..
Now Im a little worried as I don’t have any photo id or a spare 80quid for a new passport so I’m not sure if it’s worth me playing the odd tenner like I usually do incase I win and get shafted, I know its not a legal requirement to hold photo id but I’m sure the bastards would use it as a stall/get out of paying card
Anyone know the score with this? I usually play at betvictor, playojo and Mr green, I’ve withdrawn thousands from each over the years and deposited more and have never been asked for the documents.. yet
9th May 2019 at 6:28 pm #65424Don’t rely on my understanding because I haven’t read about it in much detail yet, but I think that while casinos are still entitled to ask for and require photo ID or other documents to verify your account, they cannot now wait until you request a withdrawal to do that and use it as an excuse to stall the payment. Part of the intention of the Gambling Commission in introducing this was that players are entitled to get their winnings. My understanding is that if you are unverified, casinos must now tell you what you need to provide and block you from betting until they have verified you.
9th May 2019 at 6:32 pm #65425Ah OK hopefully your right lol that would make a lot of sense, to be honest if I can’t bet at all without photo id it would be a blessing in disguise, its the fear of winning and being denied that grips my shit ?
9th May 2019 at 8:31 pm #65429Can you not get an I.D card? They used to be like £20. Not sure how they are now?
Websites here if you want it, but check with casinos if they accept this first obviously.
Only other thing I can think of is a provisional license? They’re cheaper than a passport.
Hope this helps 🙂
9th May 2019 at 8:59 pm #65432save up get a passport that way if you win big your all set to jet off away and sit in the sun with your big win
9th May 2019 at 9:08 pm #65433Cheers winningbird I did have a look at the citizens cards but I found mixed results about weather or not they’re legally recognised yet
Sadly I’m not allowed my provisional back until October ? x

They need to have asked by the 7th or ask on sign up before allowing you to deposit at new casinos,if they do not it means they have digitally done it themselves,so unless you are depositing 1000s and hit a threshold where they by law have to ask for anti money laundering reasons, your average player like yourself depositing the odd £10-£100 should not be a problem when it comes time to withdraw.
10th May 2019 at 9:41 am #65460It’s effectively government photo id mandatory in the uk, for any gambler.
but not for anyone else.
10th May 2019 at 7:56 pm #65505I dont work in UKGC much, but id suggest yes, unless you are fully validated with a lifetime of deposits on a casino with no issues, not to sign up at new ones or deposit places you havent for a while. They will have to ask for extra docs.
