Yeah, its a funny one this. I decided it was time to verify at Casumo as I would be more likely to withdraw. Was dealing with Ingrid as I recall who made this request of me. Sent it in, couldn’t understand why verification was still pending. Eventually she came back saying she couldn’t see it, couldn’t make out the ID either and could I please send another photo but this time with my trousers on! Fussy or what?

I dont get the hatred of KYC. Without it gambling wouldnt exist. AML policies and licencing is restrictive for a reason.

If we asked you to do it when you create the account the gripe would be “I just want to play some slots man” If we ask you to do it after your first deposit the gripe would be “I have only made one deposit, why you want that now?” If we do it at a random time, maybe when you have not been active so it doesn’t interfere with A: you wanting to play slots B: have a pending withdrawal the response would be “I will do that another time” If we requested at first withdrawal the gripe will be “You took my money now I want to withdraw my winnings you want all this stuff” If we do it at the UKGC 2k Mark the gripe is “I have deposited and withdrawn loads before, why you want this now?”

There is never a an optimal time to request the required documents from a player! We do try and make the process as smooth as possible for all players that are in the KYC stage of their account. It is a regulation that we must adhere to that enables us to be able to showcase all the slots that you guys and girls love to moan about!

Can I ask how it works though? Obviously there isn’t some poor guy in a chair going through every account and seeing if it needs verifying so it’s most likely an automated system that triggers when you hit a certain deposit limit for the month or am I way off?

That is not the only time we can or do request it, we will request if there is a case of multiple accounts, 3rd party payment methods have been used, if you fail to come up on the initial checks that the system carry’s out on account creation to be able to verify your of legal age, if a device fingerprint is used on more than one account, IP addresses linked to more than one account, multiple accounts in one house and that is to name a few of the reasons that it may have been requested early (pre 2k). As long as your account is created with legitimate details and you have the documents that you know we are going to request at some point there is never going to be a problem, and yes we do have a poor guy in the corner checking accounts! The only part of that you got incorrect is there is more than one of them, there is a team!

Had that myself pretty standard security check stops all kinds of fraud. an example you’re not going to steal id then take a selfie with it then send it.

I for obvious reasons won’t go into what else it stops.

Least they don’t ask actual stupid questions like ea, lost access to my FIFA account a few years back, talked to the laughably named live help

I’ve been mucking about with Casumo for ages now, when the verification request came through I thought “no problem, I have a folder with all my docs, I’ll whack that over and get verified in a couple of days” – I just thought asking for a photo holding up my ID to my ugly mug was a bit humiliating and somewhat out of order.  I accept I maybe old school but I know the UKGC do not require you to do this.

I’ve played through about 3.5K with you guys, my net deposits with you is £46.10 – I play from one IP and no one in the house has a Casumo account other than me so I’m going to remain cynical.  That said, Casumo is a good Casino and thanks for being on BIAM.

It’s not a fingerprint! We are not the CIA. It’s know as a fingerprint, say you have an account and your friend has an account, you use your phone to play on Casumo and then your friend uses your phone to play on his Casumo account, those two accounts are then linked to that digital device fingerprint. Hope that clears that up for you Damo

It’s all good now, Andy.  My main and probably unclear point is the humiliation for an older type of bloke to take a selfie with his driving licence. My account got verified and I received my withdrawal.

If I could be bothered, and I’m not, I’d question you about GDPR but I suppose the days are coming when you are going to have to provide photographic ID for almost everything.  1984 and all that.

The selfie is something that we have been doing for a while now and I personally think it is a good idea (but I am ever so handsome) but we do understand that it can be a little strange for the, as you put it so well, the 1984 generation. I am not sure where all of this ends but my guess will be biometrics!

I’m surprised you guys are not issuing Security tags/keys for players passwords yet tbh, and tbh most new players should be verified when opening an account nowadays, as most are aware off the dangers of the Internet, things could be so much more efficient but that takes £ Even a simple video call could surfice to be a all in 1 solution and I tend to believe that the more security conscious A company is the more trust I can put in them, like you being able to post here will give casumo a bit more cred.

Its just the cost of doing business on the interwebzzzzz nowadays as more people are becoming more security conscious.

Its unfortunate that we won’t be able to just sign up & play as thats how most new players start I suspect so I can see why at the moment your/Online Representatives pushed for these guidelines instead of the Verification on the spot before play, so it’s a difficult balancing act and wouldn’t want to be in your job as It takes calmness that I don’t have, so I’ll apologise for my last comments in the threat & wish you A Good Day, Sir ??
