Hi Guys,
It might not sound like much, but Ive just massively relapsed, opened an account to bet online and spunked my monthly wage (£1050), i have gambled badly before but always left enough to cover the bills. I already pay my rent a month in arrears, and my landlord has already sent a reminder.
Im just sat in my living room, trying to raise the rent money to keep a roof over my head and cant see a way out. I really cannot get credit, even with provident and I fear anything I try and sell I will lose the proceeds. My job involves cash handling so I feel like I cannot say anything there otherwise I will be suspect number 1.
The reason Im here is I want advice from Gamblers who can relate. Anyone?

Speak to your landlord, tell them that you will sort rent asap….rent/mortgage is the most important thing. Every other bill can wait. Ban yourself as much as possible. If you need a chat, hit me up, and we can maybe chat more. Always here for my brothers

27th October 2019 at 9:56 am #82287I’m not able to help financially because my car finally died yesterday, and it’s my daughters birthday next month. 🙁 what I can provide is a bit of support, and what I would reccomend is signing up to gamstop straight away, and talk to family about what has happened. Be honest, and people may help you. I would also recommend you talk to your landlord and say you’re struggling. I hope you feel a little better now you’ve had some time to think over what youve done, and its sunk in. We are all here to talk if you need us to. Please sign up to gamstop before this ends up in a vicious circle of you gambling away your money for bills and rent.
2227th October 2019 at 3:39 pm #82320Why haven’t you got restrictions on your accounts? I was In A similar position as many of us have been, until I restricted my accounts to monthly and weekly limits. Basically when it’s gone it’s gone!
27th October 2019 at 4:07 pm #82325It’s not that easy, unless you sign up to gamstop. You can put limits on as many sites as you want, but you’ll always find another if you’re that desperate.
27th October 2019 at 5:32 pm #82327Been there done that mate. It’s fucking horrendous. Drop me a personal message and I’ll donate what I can, I’ll have it back bit by bit, whatever you can afford, obviously no interest haha
127th October 2019 at 5:49 pm #82329My advice would be sign up to gamstop straight away i have for 5 years, i have done similar in the past, i don’t think putting limits on accounts is any good because theres just too many sites to sign up to and rejoin, now if its a good casino explain your situation to them and you might get a goodwill gesture but they’ll close your account for life.
27th October 2019 at 6:26 pm #82330Advice:
Stop gambling!
You need a programme in place….
K9 or similar on ALL of your devices, with password set by someone else obviously.
Maybe speak to the bank about blocking your cards for gambling sites.
Speak to a friend or a family member about your addiction.
Do. Not. Gamble. Again. This. Month!!! Until you get straight with what you owe, stop fucking betting. You say you always leave enough to cover your bills? Why is your rent paid a month in arrears? It’s usually a month in hand – you’re essentially two months behind there already.
Join gamstop and just stop. Gambling is a debilitating disease at its worst and only you have the power to cut it out.
No-one here will help you financially – at least I hope there is more sense on the forum than that anyway – but lots of us have been through the wringer with the addiction. You might find some advice but best bet is to head to the gamcare forum right now.
27th October 2019 at 6:44 pm #82331My advice . Respond to people for fucks sake . It really pisses me off , when people come on for advice , then nothing .
27th October 2019 at 6:56 pm #82332First, you need to cut off your access to gambling. Visit https://gamstop.co.uk/ and register, today.
Second, you need to deal with the rent issue. It’s not clear from your post whether paying your rent for the previous month (in arrears) is your normal arrangement or whether you mean you’re supposed to pay in advance (which is the more normal arrangement) and you’re already behind. If this is so, it’s important to note falling 2 months in arrears is sufficient for your landlord to begin a Section 8 eviction process.
I’ll assume you’re in England, so have a look at these pages for advice but TLDR is the immediately recommended step is to contact your landlord or agent and see if you can reach an agreement to pay off this month’s rent over the next few months alongside keeping up with future rent due.

Finally, on an emotional level, you need to breathe, keep calm and understand this is not the end of the world. You will be able to fix things and build a better future but it’s not going to happen by tomorrow morning. Losing a whole month’s wages in minutes is something many of us have done, I’ve done it, we can relate and we understand the feelings you’re going through. But if you truly don’t want to have to live your life feeling that way any more, you do need to be willing to help yourself, understand what else is going on in your life or in your head that’s making you gamble, confront the fact you have a problem and take the necessary steps to stop doing it.
If you’re struggling with your feelings at this point, please visit https://www.gamcare.org.uk/ and either call or speak to someone on live chat, they have trained counselors who deal specifically with gambling issues and will be able to help you without any judgement. It’s a very good service, trust me on that.
May I add you might you get a few rolly-eyes or sarcastic sounding comments on here – please don’t take anything from it. There was a time when both The Bandit and several other forum members gave away a lot of money to help people in this kind of situation and that kindness, sadly but not unpredictably, resulted in a lot of chancers trying to take advantage. It’s now very difficult particularly for long time established members who’ve been burned this way to know who’s genuine and who’s just looking for a free quick buck to throw on the slots. Personally although I’ve done well not gambling as a result of signing up with Gamstop, I’m still paying off debts incurred as a result of my habit and therefore unfortunately not in a position to offer any direct financial aid. I can only wish you well and hope things work out.
