I can personally vouch that you aren’t the only one, nor will you be the last! that is a fact!
Much like yourself i went from fruitys to online casinos and found myself in some trouble, managed to work my way out of it and regain control. Because the slots can be sooooo volatile, i set myself a weekly deposit limit (as much as i can afford to lose for entertainment / enjoyment) and if i wax it all in one day then so be it, if i get good play for the money and profit then brilliant, but at least i know i can and will only ever lose a set amount.
When i am in profit i play at higher stakes chasing the big wins, and have a few big hits historically. Recently by complete chance managed to hit a £52,300ish feature on book of magic and had an overwhelming sense of finally achieving a monster hit! this was around 3 and a half weeks ago and it has completely eradicated my need and want to gamble, so much so that i have not even been close to reactivating my account and plan on keeping it that way! I am undoubtedly still ‘down’ with all historic gambling considered.
if its solely a big win you are after it will be a long and costly road, and the best outcome will either be recouping some of what you have lost getting there, or getting nothing at all and being even worse off.
My advise would be to play for fun and not for financial reliability, and if you want to go for the huge hits on silly stakes, do it with their money when you are in profit and that will relieve the feeling of waxing a load of your own cash!! If you are accepting you can lose £50, £100 or whatever the value is per week and you lose that, then it doesn’t really matter what happens in between!
27th March 2019 at 1:09 pm #57875Dam mate that really sucks sorry to hear. I do understand when people get a big win lets say for example off a £100 deposit get the balance to £2000 if they were to lose that then say only lost £100. Not for me i would see that as losing £2000 i know alot of people see it this way as it may soften the blow but you could have stopped and took the money right? Its hard i know but setting bottom lines on a balance and sticking to them is really important. Once you set that line and go past it most people then chase to get back to that balance and before you know it its at zero
127th March 2019 at 1:11 pm #57877Of course your not mate, we’ve all been there, had a big win, carried on and lost the lot! I was playing on Pokerstars last year and won $3500 playing Poker, Roulette and Blackjack I withdrew $800 and kept the rest in play after a few days I ended up losing the lot placing silly $200 roulette bets with $100 on 0 (which never came in) and ended up putting the $800 back in trying to build it up on Blackjack and ended up losing it in 4 hands against 2 BJ’s and 2 20’s.
I remember that loss still as it was a late session and I remember waking up early afternoon to the dread that I just spunked $3500 the previous night, felt like shit for at least a week, went in my shell, didn’t bother with anyone and locked myself away until I got over it.
Since that point I’ve always tried to play on sites that let you lock withdrawals and as soon as I get a big hit I’ll take around 80% of it – withdraw it and lock it and play with the rest. I find this means my urges can’t do me in and I actually get to spend some money from a big win now.
127th March 2019 at 2:46 pm #5788227th March 2019 at 4:56 pm #57879I’m sure mate there is a few of us here who have had the joy of ccj’s through gambling and debt, wasted most of my 20’s to the machines and still now in my 40’s I’m gambling but have learnt the neccessity of limits. I still probably gamble too much, but, not to the point I get in bother . What I have learned is to make sure all the bills are paid and a few pound in to savings that are hard to access( credit union..etc) and only play with what’s left. There is no point saying I’m not going to gamble I always will, but, not allow it to be detrimental to my family or life . Good luck
1127th March 2019 at 4:58 pm #57897Your definitely not the only one. Very similar i started in the 80’s on seaside slots and tbh have never stopped. At one point unable to go 24 hours without having a play. Pubs service stations arcades bookies then online you name it i couldn’t walk past one. Even when i won it would go back the next day. Fortunately I’m more chilled now and play only a fraction as much as i used to do. I know where your coming from I’d sleep and wake thinking about nothing else. I promise those thoughts will gradually reduce but they will never go away completely. Good luck
