This is a long shot but my oven is fucked to say the least. The element went on it so I bought a replacement on Ebay, firstly I put the spades on the long way round and the fucking thing let off a big spark, I then put the spades on the correct way and it started to work, only problem now is that it trips the electricity when it gets to a certain temperature. I don’t know if I’ve to insulate the spades, I haven’t a clue.
What was meant to be a romantic dine in for 2 valentines meal from M and S turned into a riot with the missus and I ready to kill each other.
If anybody has half an idea about these things then help would be appreciated.

Does that mean the element is fucked mate? I had a feeling when I wired it wrong the first time that I damaged it. Thanks for replying.
15th February 2019 at 10:48 am #49034Oven what’s an oven ? All I know is the missus puts cold food in and it comes out hot. It’s like the other day she mentioned about something called a hoover. No idea where it is in the house. It makes alot of noise though. ??
1415th February 2019 at 10:55 am #49035sounds like the element is open circuit mate .send it back to ebay tell them its faulty
115th February 2019 at 11:04 am #49036It’s heating element mate. It probably needs replacing. There should be 2. One at top and one at the bottom.
115th February 2019 at 11:10 am #4903715th February 2019 at 12:53 pm #49043Replaced element and it was going well then the ducked tripped again, it’s as if it shuts off at a certain temperature.
15th February 2019 at 1:20 pm #49044Bit confused then mate. ??. Benq was right it did seem to be all the symptoms to suggest it was the element. Just don’t do what I do. If in doubt whack it with a hammer and hope for the best.?
15th February 2019 at 1:31 pm #49045Check that the element is fitted correctly mate. The fittings are usually tight but if it’s touching the the oven chassis it can cause them to trip. Might just need realigning
15th February 2019 at 3:28 pm #49062Hi mate
I changed mine over and it was just a straight swap. Are the connections tight enough and not in contact with anything else. If it cuts off at a certain temperture could it be some sort of heat sensor thats went that regulates the temp. I would time it to see how long it takes to trip if its fairly consistant times then it might not be the elememt. Im not a spark its just what I would do
15th February 2019 at 5:47 pm #49085Thanks for the replies guys, it looks like the fucker is overheating now. Don’t know if i’ve blown the thermostat up when I put the wires the wrong way into the element. I was tampering about with the back of the oven yesterday so don’t know if iv’e moved something.
15th February 2019 at 6:51 pm #49087Is it tripping the circuit breaker or the RCD? If it’s the RCD there’s some earth leakage somewhere.
