No, I’m not talking about The Bandit – high stakes videos are something he does as specials and everyone here knows the score behind why he plays Reel King the way he does. Plus he does more and gives back more for his viewers than any other streamer by a long margin. The high stakes videos aren’t really my cup of tea but I’m sure plenty enjoy them. Point is, one of the main things I like about Steve’s videos is that he’ll usually stick to a grand in, £2ish stakes.
I’m more talking about like for example I’ll watch Jimbo now and these days he’ll start staking £5 a spin with a balance of £500. To me, that’s mental, you’re far more likely to bust out in minutes than hit a huge win. Obviously we’ve seen with e.g. Nickslots on Primal what kind of money you can get on those stakes but he’s another one who now seems to routinely chase the big money. I remember all the streamers being on around 60p-£1, hell it was only about 2 years ago if that. And with the higher stakes with a few streamers, personally I find they’re coming across more egotistic these days too, the personalities not quite so likeable. And so many now jumping between 3 no-name, badly designed white label casinos in a single stream, grabbing as many deposit bonuses and pushing as many affiliate links as they can.
So that’s my question, does anyone else feel this way, like they’re put off watching some streamers who have gotten greedy and no longer seem to have much in common with the ordinary player? Or am I being too harsh?
10th March 2019 at 10:07 pm #54138The thing i find is it is a battle to stay relevant in some circles, occasionally you kind of feel forced to knock out a video that is perhaps a little higher than you usually would, like Jimbo for example on £5 stake with a £500 balance, it is usually influenced by what is going on around the scene like Nicks £27k win on £5 stake, he is probably just trying his luck and wishing for anything remotely similar.
10th March 2019 at 10:08 pm #54139Greedy? Well no they play on that stake as its max stake with the bonus attached to the deposit. Playing on lower (normal) stakes mathematically they will bust out more often so its actually more profitable to play max stake and give yourself the best chance to beat the wagering
10th March 2019 at 10:18 pm #54142I assume the play within their means. As for Nick he is part of a multi million business (not trying to defend). What I find strange is the streamers that started out saying the play at 1£ stake because people can relate to that and 1 year later they play 5-40£ spins regulary and even 100£ spins on BOD (yes some sites allows that).

I wouldn’t in all my own experience as a gambler agree with your maths there. It all depends what balance you have to play with and £5 on £500 balance including bonus is 100x to wager. That’s nothing, you’ll bust out almost certainly on that kind of stake, every time. When I was playing, my initial load would be 500x my planned stake level and that got me plenty of features and decent profitable cashouts. I’d say 500x is about the minimum really to have a reasonably good session. On a balance of £500 I’d be staking £1, maybe £1.50 at a stretch depending on the game. Even those stakes on many games could yield £2k, £5k even £10k if you’re super lucky.

The “you used to play 60p” is often thrown at me. Here are my own reasons. When i started, there was Nick, Kim, Paul and David (Slot win) that was pretty much it, the norm was 60p, i had very little experience on online slots outside of Raging Rhino and Bruce Lee, both of which i used to regularly play on way higher stakes up to as much as £9 odd on Bruce. I spent the first few months of my channel learning games, learning what to expect, what to chase, what not to chase, even doing this at 60p stake left me in a £24k down hole! I raised the stake one day, all the way up to £1.80 and bang, i had a £3,700+ win on Game of Thrones. That led me to place my norm at £1.50 – £2 and tbh to this day, my norm stake is still around £2/3
2110th March 2019 at 10:28 pm #54146you are far more likely to bust out playing on lower stakes. Am not saying you can’t win on them or that you are wrong to play those stakes but you give yourself a better chance to profit is all am saying 😀
10th March 2019 at 10:31 pm #54148Yes I do remember these days. I often commented on your Youtube vids. The good old days, when you called the little one “noise machine” haha. Well the streamers I don
t trust, I don
t follow. Simple as that. Some of them did base their channel around “being one of you guys” At least my opinion. Is that illegal? Not at all.I just don`t like it 😀10th March 2019 at 10:36 pm #54149Yes most are probably getting greedy but then they are gamblers, you could argue that all gamblers are greedy.

110th March 2019 at 10:43 pm #54153I like watching Hypalinx. He seems a genuinely nice bloke. Sometimes it pains me watching him fritter away 1-2k over a 5 hour stream on £1 stake with little chance of recouping even half his deposit.
I think he does it for the entertainment value and the social aspect of streaming ( i may be wrong).
On the flip side you have Slotspinner. He will deposit a similar amount in increments but will stream for an hour or two at €4-5 stakes. He seems to get more luck. It could be that he streams more often and wagers more hence the more regular big hits. His seems more a business approach though again a very nice guy.
I think there’s a point in there somewhere! Maybe it’s that interaction with the viewers matters more to some stremers than raw profit. Again, I’m probably being very naive there!
10th March 2019 at 11:45 pm #54197I guess that when Jibo does his streams he always takes 100% bonuses and flips between providers. If you have taken a £300 bonus and have £12k to wager it’s in your interest to try and get a big hit on a bigger stake to clear it
Thats why a lot of the time his videos only last 30 minutes, during which time he has normally advertised a couple of his casinos and got a big hit or two.
Maximum ads for minimum outlay, you will rarely see him really go for it from a finding perspective
10th March 2019 at 11:55 pm #54199At the end of the day these streamers are there to make money. It’s business pure and simple. They will find the best scenario which makes them the most money. There will always be people who disagree with the way they operate but if that is their sole source of income they are going to milk it best they can.

And of course as the Bandit, I think, said, they are desperate to stay relevant.
There is obviously a hell of a lot of money to be made. Jimbo is a Chef and Craig slots wears a donkey jacket to work (manual labour) and yet they both do thousands a month.
Once you get that sort of income you don’t want to lose it, and the competition appears fierce – hence wanting to show eye wateringvwins to get attention – you only have to look at how Nickslots win is spoken about, and Jimbo didn’t really start getting big until his £45k win on DOA
11th March 2019 at 12:29 am #54213Reminds me of a oceans 11 quote – Cause the house always wins. Play long enough, you never change the stakes. The house takes you. Unless, when that perfect hand comes along, you bet big, then you take the house.
However yes other streamers follow each other. Its alot easier when its bonus funds every time they deposit with max cashouts for them and losses per month covered up to a certain amount as long as they dont bet more than 5 Euros a spin. Makes you think huh 😉
