Personally quit my decade long FOBT habit a few years back, but I walk past quite a few bookies on my way to work each day and have noticed since the stake restrictions came in, they’re virtually deserted these days. Where four FOBTs would all have been in use whenever I looked inside, these days they stand there, no players at all. I’m really pleased, those machines were absolute poison. Already seen a few shops close down, hopefully many more to follow.
131st July 2019 at 2:08 pm #75868I’ve noticed that too. Also I’ve noticed that the fruit machines in service stations over the past few weeks have looked really unused. Maybe people are wising up.
31st July 2019 at 2:19 pm #75870A couple of weeks ago a member of staff said to me straight up, not to play them anymore. It’s not fun gambling anymore, accepting longterm you’ll lose more than you win. It’s now people just being rinsed in a disgusting way to make up for the money they’re losing since the max stakes were lowered. One shit bonus after another – 50p stake on eye of horus which gave me£9 on a double retrigger. Top symbol with 10 plus spins time and again paying next to nothing, are just a couple of examples. Same shop, same machine as well. Been playing them for 20 years and they’ve never been anywhere near this bad.
31st July 2019 at 2:45 pm #75872I gave up gambling on 4th July and signed up to gamban. I’m still pretty skint at the moment but things will get better I hope. Still play the lottery but even spending £20 on tickets is nothing compared to losing £100’s in a FOBT or online. I usually play one line on the lottery and then the rest on 3 or 4 number hotpicks.
31st July 2019 at 2:58 pm #75874Yeah glad they put the min bet on Roulette. But people seem to be smashing the slots on fobts now in a big way. They should take the min bet down to 20p like roulette with the 2 quid. That would finally sort the shit out.
31st July 2019 at 3:23 pm #7587731st July 2019 at 4:00 pm #75886Totally agree with them being smashed up without a doubt they’ve been doctored since announcement re the stake being lowered its almost like they’ve been told to not let people win so they don’t get hooked, especially with all these fines they getting.
Let’s hope more close, most of the staff bloody miserable too and I hate the way bells ring when you win a massive five quid !!! What’s that all about? To alert staff you maybe winning ( heaven forbid ) .rant over.
