And affiliation – It’s a bit like using Quidco or Topcashback for when you swap your broadband provider, It costs someone nothing yet theres a small payoff sometimes for the person who’s link it is. Surely if someone was trying to convince people, they would be always winning thousands and shouting THIS WILL BE YOU IF YOU USE MY LINK. I’ve not once heard Bandit say anything of the sort, i do hear him say “there’s only one winner and it’s not the gambler” quite a few times, and “don’t think this always happens, because 99% of the time it doesn’t” when he has a big win.
If i’m going to spin £50 on a casino game, i’m going to do it if it’s through bandit’s link or not. If he makes a quid from that then fair play, it’s less for the casino (although i think he’s using a system where he gets a set amount when a customer goes through a certain amount of deposit, just like quidco/tcb). At the end of the day, i’m happy that some money might make it’s way to him to support the channel (or now the website). In turn, if he wants to run prize draws, that’s his choice. He doesn’t have to, but it’s a bit of a chance to interact with us all as a viewership and maybe win a few quid back.
19th July 2018 at 12:37 pm #11626Promoting gambling in this current environment is wrong…everyday we read stories of people stealing, borrowing and putting themselves into debt, the running of raffles promoting gambling is against the advertising/promotion rules of YouTube.
Parents are wising up to what their kids actually watch nowadays…and kids have easy access to watch the videos which is illegal, the fact you can hear kids in the background is not good, not good at all.
Kill the raffles and constant hawking of the casinos that pay you to advertise, make it less accessible to children and maybe this will be resolved…
Agreed, however you have to actively search for the videos to access them.
Steve has done more than most to tackle individuals with problems I.e. free Gamban codes etc. And a 5 second long ‘no under 18’s’ at the start of the vids.
I also don’t see the difference in him making money via affiliates using YouTube and others taking a random video, say “things to do in New York” and the loading it up with 50 ads within a 10 minute video. YouTube is the platform and people are making money from them.
Hope you get sorted Steve mate!!! Keep up the good work!!

19th July 2018 at 4:51 pm #11650As an ex gambler who got into a real heap of shit before it was discovered i can comment from that side of the coin. I know for a fact youtube and soon twitch are cracking down due to pressure from the UK government. In the last few weeks and months and future so many new rules and regs for betting shops and online casinos have been brought in. The UK has basically killed off fobt with 20p max bets and also no auto play or fast spinning. other new regs soon as well.
My point though is i know a good 25 percent or more watching steve and his slotting are like me. ex hamblers watching him play to stop their own itch. therapy even lol. Anyone agree.
1119th July 2018 at 5:33 pm #11659The Casino Grounds channel has just come back and I assume their videos will soon follow as they’re all showing as being removed right now. Hopefully the Bandit’s channel will be back soon too.

Videos are watchable, just no thumbnails. Casino Grounds went down a day or so before Steve’s so maybe by the weekend it’ll be back?

No, strongly disagree.
I’m also a gambler. I’ve had a “serious problem” but now play in moderation – basically I play the quiz games in the pub and when I’m pissed II go on the bandits too – no bookies, no casinos and no online (K9 protection on phone and laptop).
It’s simply untrue that gamblers (ex gamblers are very very rare to find) watch these vids to scratch an itch, they watch them to live vicariously through someone else, and if/when the opportunity arises I am 100% certain they will try to emulate their actions. It’s the same for “Ex gamblers” who still play on the casino sites on free-play to get their fix.
Don’t get me wrong I’ve done both the above and tried to convince myself that it’s a healthy thing, but if you are a problem gambler trying to cut ties and build a life then any reminder of your highs will be a trigger. I have worked extensively with problem gamblers and I assure you it’s the truth, it’s like a volcano bubbling – it might not have erupted yet but it sure ain’t dormant.
Luckily I now have a family and a couple of businesses and gamble a couple of times a month in the pub, but it took a lot of years losing every penny every week (maybe 15 years) before I realised it was a mugs game.
I am a hypocrite of course, I love Steve’s videos and was a regular viewer for my sins, but the idea that he is providing a service to help gamblers is utterly mental – especially offering thousand quid prize draws for anyone who signs up through his links to lose money.*** Getting paid for that would go against my ethics, certainly.
***note – affiliates get paid regardless of whether you win or lose, but as a gambler himself surely he knows that 95% of the time it’s going to go one way. Costing 95% of your viewers money to draw affiliation dues wouldn’t sit right with me.
1119th July 2018 at 8:35 pm #11674Just a quick note Kojak, of the 40,000 viewers i would get on the videos and of the 23,500 people that were subscribed, around 200 people a month would join through my links, not really 95% of my viewers that is it?
Your opinion is your opinion and that is all well and good but i’d say 99% of my viewers….. watched for free.

I don’t know why you bother explaining and rationalising mate. The haters and trolls will hate regardless of what you say. Don’t give them the time of day and the satisfaction.
Much love.

Fair enough, I used the wrong wording.
To put it correctly, 95% of your sign-ups (perhaps just 1% of your viewers, then) are going to lose their money. And a good number will lose much more chasing their loss.
Without wishing to make this personal – this is a gripe with all streamers and YouTube gamblers who do this – I was simply pointing out that you make money by incentivising people to sign up to a new site (one which you’re affiliated with) and gamble, and usually lose.
Ironically my response was in reply to someone arguing that your videos help problem gamblers stay on the straight and narrow. It would have been quite funny if I didn’t remember all the sleepless nights and heartache from my 20’s.Maybe I should target Alcoholics Anonymous and show videos of me drinking special brew. Maybe get them all to chuck a quid in for me to draw a raffle and the winner gets an all-day beano around Manchester.
*Edit – second thoughts no, I did that last week and the cocktail bars left a £300 hole on my wallet*Again, this isn’t an attack on you. I enjoy your content and I think you seem sound. It’s a warning to anyone with an issue gambling, who should be running 100 miles from this sort of content, not watching it to “help”.
1119th July 2018 at 10:17 pm #11687Love the bandit. And I never use online casinos because they let you gamble your money, but when you win they need proof who you are. That’s double standards all in the favour of the casinos. So I join them use there free spins or money then self exclude for 5 years lol. I take the piss cos they do fucking whores.
19th July 2018 at 10:21 pm #11688Everything you say is correct. I look for fobts that I’ve seen on YouTube like legends of pharos. But I don’t use online casinos. But no youtuber makes me gamble it’s my choice I have a brain I make my own decisions. Anyone that blames someone else is a mindless sheep and should find the nearest cliff.
19th July 2018 at 10:22 pm #11689The truth is many people are after some easy money and will use a search engine. Many sporting events have bookies on site, there are bookies and arcades everywhere and the min stake doesn’t stop gamblers. You can’t protect people enough and when it goes wrong very easy to blame a promoter, at least they give away some decent raffle money.
It is no different to blaming supermarkets for cheap booze and making alcoholics. As a long time ex drinker I have no issue with them doing this. Your demons find you and what happens after that is up to you.
2119th July 2018 at 10:30 pm #11692When did we all stop being responsible for our own actions?
I hate this nanny state bollocks, I hate that a small group can spend all their time trying to get certain You Tube Channels closed down because they don’t ‘agree’ with the content.
Yeah right, don’t agree or are quite sad and as jealous as fuck that others are having a little success on Social Media? I know where my money is going.
I watch The Bandit as he is funny, entertains me and is a bloody decent bloke, if I choose to spunk £200 quid on the slots, then that is my decision, not The Bandits or Paul’s or Kim’s or Nick’s, END OF.
19th July 2018 at 10:35 pm #11693ok you ‘orrible lot, Thursday slots is up on the homepage.
Enjoy!!1 -
