Ok, so I have been saving for an engagement ring for a while now but I still need to raise about £700 and am not going to be able to do so in time for my planned proposal which is heartbreaking.

This is in no way a “begging” post expecting something for nothing, but I know we have a few well off people on here and wondered if anyone is able to loan me the money to be paid back over 3 months or so ?

If so please let me know and we can discuss privately and agree terms etc. If you can’t help, please don’t swarm the thread with unhelpful comments.

    Thanks

why not go to the jeweller and get finance on the outstanding balance? if your paying the majority upfront shouldn’t be a problem?

I tried and couldn’t, the jeweller offer finance through a third party loan company but I didn’t qualify. That was what I was planning to do originally 🙁

Ha! Good point Haz! I just remember a while back there was a poll of how much people spend on slots on a weekly/monthly basis and a fair few were into 4 figures! Guess I was hoping one of those might be able to sacrifice just one session for a worthy cause as to my partner who’s had a really bad year with her disabilities it would mean the absolute world to her.

Unfortunately i think us like most gamblers are in the same boat. You know i give when i can as i have in the past and i would if i could but even myself would take the week off work if i could.

Yes I get ok money, but we all have living costs and tough times and supporting my unwell partner who had to stop working for a year due to back problems.

Love how people try to jump on you when you honestly open up and reach out for help (and only asking for a loan at that). Especially from one of the very few people that has had handouts from this forum.

I know it might be cheesy, but buy one if those 20p rings out of a vender, and tell her after that you’re in the process of buying her another ring, but it’s not ready yet. Just be honest with her.. Or a haribo ring.. though if shes anything like me it will be eaten by the time I’d finished saying yes ?

I wouldn’t purchase the engagement ring from the high Street jewellery shop. it’s way too expensive being like x 2 x 3 the average price. I bought mine online in actually from different country which made it a lot lot cheaper. so instead of spending thousands I spent only hundreds.

    Simple solution mate.

Buy a ring in your price range. The wife to be won’t give a flying fuck in how much it costs if she truly lubs ya!

My mate got married in 2001 and spent 150 quid.

Tricky, get yourself registered onto the Credit Club.  Once registered, you’ll be able to access an online portal about your financial standing.  Find out what your ‘soft’ credit rating is and then look through the score breakdown on what loans you can apply for.

The one good thing going for you is that you’re WANTED $41 and not one of those n00bs with WANTED $0 and a post count of 1 😛

I got engaged on Xmas eve just gone and I wanted to buy a fancy ring and all the rest of it just too much money so I bought an engagement style of ring from pandora cost me £60, my partner knows how much and where i got it from didn’t bother her, it’s not about the ring mate it’s about what the ring is for so I think your maybe trying to hard, i compared the ring I got her to the one she’d wanted a few months after and there wasn’t much difference bar one was £60 pound the other was £320, women act like they want the expensive rings but once you pop the question they don’t care about the cost it’s the fact there engaged and gonna get married!
