Never really discussed my gambling issues but would like to try and give you an insight

I have been gambling for a few decades now. My gambling started in betting shops and arcade machines. The times that I had the big losses I would use all sorts of excuses to cover the losses ” lost my wallet” etc etc I come to realize that these sort of machines aint worth a rub. I stopped gambling for a while then i discovered “Online Bingo” and in particular Deal or No Deal Bingo. My gambling started to really get out of control. After several months, maybe even as long as a year I had racked up a whopping £60k debt. I entered into an IVA with the intentions of a fresh start! It did work for a while but psychologically the IVA acted as a clean sate to start gambling again. I discovered the world of Netent and online games. It did not take long to get a big win, £3k. Unfortunately the withdrawal process took so long that i reversed it. This became a trend of keep reversing withdrawals due to lengthy withdrawal processes. In frustration I would Self Exclude having lost thousands of pounds in potential withdrawals. I took a new approach to online games and decided to have a no reverse policy. Once i made a withdrawal it would be set i stone. After quite a few losses I managed a nice hit of £2k. I withdrew the money only to be told that the withdrawal has been revoked as i have self excluded on a sister site! I learnt that I needed to look at who managed a site before signing up (example) If i wanted to sign up with Casimba I would first have to look at who managed their sites to make sure i have not been excluded from any associated site. In this example it would be WHG (White Hat Gaming). With this safety net in place I now started to gamble a lot harder, despite having a reasonably well payed job I was gambling way beyond my means. After a real bad session I would self exclude with intentions of never gambling again. A couple of days later I would sign up to a new site. Eventually, after thousands of pounds i managed to self exclude myself from every single online casino governed by UKGC. Me and the wife have a joint account, she does not work so looking at this advantageously I started to sign up at casinos under her name until eventually the same process took place. her name was eventually self excluded from every casino!

In desperation i spoke with my son who was understanding and let me use his name to gamble. I would transfer money to his account and then play. The debts were now starting to really accumulate. I got a secured loan of £62k to pay off the debts and at the same time i discovered GamStop. I entered all three names into GamStop with the great intentions of never gambling again as I now have the secured loan. I then purchased Gamban as well to help in the campaign. After a couple of weeks the urges to gamble were getting real high. I could not delete Gamban from my PC for love nor money. Unfortunately Gamban on your phone is completely useless. You give it administrator rights, so when you try and gamble it is impossible!!! When you want to gamble you just simply remove its administrator rights and delete Gamban and you are able to gamble again. This is from an android user perspective.

I could now gamble again. I now came across another hurdle Gamstop is a very very powerful tool! I tried and tried and tried to gamble but just could not sign up anywhere under all names.

I now started to tweak my name and did a little photoshop altering and started to gamble again. Regardless of my success, most of the time I would not get the money as i would not pass the verification stage. The annoying thing is that VISA are not as secure as you think. You could enter your name as Micky Mouse, but as long as the 16 digit card number expiry date and 3 digit code are correct you will have success. I have even had it where i am gambling under a different name and address and go to the VISA Verification website where you obviously have to enter all details correctly, the payment still goes through. It should be that you have to be verified before you can deposit. If this were the case i would not be able to gamble under real names because of GamStop and would not be able to gamble under false names because of verification failure.

I have had many disputes with casinos Ecogra, askgamblers, IBAS and many other ADR’s and have only ever been successful once. I have even deposited £400 at a really well known casino then thought to myself, hold up this is stupid, so i immediately (after depositing) was honest with them and told them of my situation and the reason behind it (gambling problem). They blocked the account. I raised a dispute with Ecogra and lost! The casino got to keep the unused £400. This is an example of many similar situations. I have had accounts with hundreds and on occasions a couple of thousand pounds in. Once verification fails they close the account, no return of funds or deposits.

I now have 3x £4k cards and 1x £1k. My misses up to this day knows nothing of my gambling so have a real chance now of turning this around. I do still keep trying on occasions but the monetary amounts are small.

Steve, your videos really do help as it feels like i am having a play but its not costing anything. I do watch a couple of selected others, but most streamers are either unrealistic and are all trying to ram sign ups down your throat!

I am hoping to read this back and just hope it sinks in of just how stupid i have been and am being. I hope the content can help someone else

In the past I have been a big weed smoker, liked my powders, loved a drink. I smoked 2x 50g pouches of tobacco a week

    At present

    I do not drink

    I do not take drugs

    I do not smoke

Gambling does not come with a government health warning or any NHS warnings. Your friends and family cannot see it, they cannot smell it. Inside you are crying, demotivated, but you keep it hidden well

    Thank you for listening
