This article may be of interest to some people: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-46382717
Would love to hear people’s thoughts on the situation, how they feel that maybe the companies do not have the player’s best interests in mind in terms of safeguarding and player protection.
Although he has addressed that Casumo were given ‘Proof of wealth’ from Mr Bandit, it seems to be after the fact that they ask questions. It wasn’t until after Mr B deposited over 80k did they message to ask if everything was okay.
Surely based on the account, this should have been deemed slightly suspicious behaviour and more should have been done to protect Mr B. Instead, they let it happen. What would’ve happened had it been suspicious activity, someone hacking the account or any more serious problems? Casumo wouldn’t have refunded the deposits.
These fines and this outcome goes to show that we need to keep doing more as individuals and as a gambling community to help protect ourselves and fellow gamblers if the casino sites are going to avoid proper restrictions and fail to protect potentially vulnerable players.
130th November 2018 at 12:58 am #26245Yeah, i don’t know. It makes it sound like they want someone to hold the players hands at all time, to make sure everything is ok.
Pretty much like how everything else is going in todays society, almost illegal to use your own brain, instead you need someone to tell you exactly what you can and can’t do.
This level of stupidity was probably reached when someone microwaved their dog and sued the microwave manufacturer.
So the casino should ask for proof of wealth with every deposit then maybe? just to see if anything changed since last time. People need to take responsibility for their own action, not just put it all on the casino. In the end all these fines and extra costs are taking a chunk out of the profit, and the profit has to be made to keep the casino alive, so they will reduce bonuses etc. Videoslots is actually reducing their rewards, and from next year the casino race is being replaced by something else. They need to reduce the player rewards to be able to stay alive, you can read more about it on CM.

Couldnt agree with you more,we are all adults and know ourselves if we have a problem, its our own responsibiliy to join gamban or put limits on our accounts…this will and already is affecting bonuses etc because there costs are rising from fines and taxes.
Fair enough if you are depositing 1000s a session,i was asked after depositing 10k in one day which i can understand,it was still a ball ache as had to send paypal stuff then bank connected to paypal, any saving i had etc etc,but i can understand that as it was a large sum,but on the other hand it was my choice and if i didnt want to lose that much i should have put limits on the account.
I think a reasonable thing they should actual do though is stop anyone depositing via credit cards as that is not actually there money.
130th November 2018 at 8:47 am #26265I’d have to say here that Casumo have always asked me things in relation to my deposit levels and back in November 2017 they restricted my account because i didn’t have satisfactory proof for them that the money i was playing with was affordable – simply down to me not having any of the standard “Source of Wealth” answers, gambling for a living and obtaining many little wins adding up to decent money is almost impossible to show them – it took until March 2018 to sort that. Then any time my deposit levels or indeed session time varied, i would receive an email asking whether everything was still under control and so on.They asked me all these questions way before the 80k session and several times previously, just to get that across.
130th November 2018 at 8:51 am #26267As for the fines – it explains to me why everywhere has gone so mental on everything, prove this, prove that, what is your blood type, what is your shoe size, everyone is petrified of being penalised it seems but what a ballache it makes playing online for the majority. Some of the verification processes these days are ridiculous and the source of wealth stuff, frankly it needs reviewing because not everyone can be categorised by what they are currently asking for.
If there has been wrongdoing, then there are fines and fair enough – lots of casinos have been fined though haven’t they, not just Casumo and Videoslots, imo still easily two of the biggest and best online casinos in the world.
