Out of sheer curiosity, what was your first experience of gambling?

    What got you hooked?

And do you have any regrets?

At 26 years of age, my first gambling experience was at the age of 18, putting a coupon on, just the odd quid, and it never really changed much, untill I started working in the bookies..6 years working away I still don’t gamble much however my stakes have increased, maybe once or twice a week 5/10 quid on a coupon, and only when I have expendable income.

My story is pretty boring, but everyone has one and I was curious to see what other people’s were.

I was about 7 and went to cafe with my brother who was 10 at the time. We had 4 quid with us. Can’t remember if we won. After that visiting grandparents who lived at the seaside we would pester my parents for a couple of quid to go in the arcades with. I suppose that’s how it all started over 30 years ago.

I put 10p in a club slot back in the 90’s and won £10 in a win/lose gamble.

I won 20 from 40p to £10 and it stayed lit up meaning I had won

Obviously I collected it and walked off lol

Was looking at horses in the paper ever since an early age. My dads side of the family are all heavy gamblers and always have been. My Nan loved a bet and I remember her placing £1 placepots for me when I was about 10/11.

When I was 18 me and a bunch of mates all went for a breakfast and a hair of the dog at a weatherspoons after a night out but unfortunately I got ID’d and didn’t have it on me and they said if I was there no one could drink so being the hero I am I said I’d meet them in an hour and for. Some reason decided to go in the William Hill across the road for the first time ever, I put a fiver in and won 17 got really excited withdrew then put 2quid back in and won the 500x jackpot on 20p, went back to my mates and we all went to the casino later that night and I won a further 600, from that day on I’ve been a problem gambler. Looking back winning was probably the worst thing that could have happened

Another one here for caravan sites, also seaside arcades that my granny would take me to at the age of 12 (early 90s).  In the UK, slot machines are called fruit machines and so I played on those.  I can’t remember what the jackpot amounts were, but the stakes were generally from 2p to 10p.  I wasn’t a child addict and I could go for years without playing a fruit machine.

In adult life, I became an arcade regular and addict from my early 20s.  Lots of different jackpot sizes that I can remember – £5, £8, £15, £25, £35, £70, £100, occasionally £250, then video-based fruits are £500.

Online gambling is a fairly new thing for me.  Only really started in the last year signing up to Video Slots and Royal Panda with £50/month limit on both.

A Cafe my parents used to take us to on a Sunday had a few 2p and 10p machines.  I think 2p Route 66 was the first machine I played.  I remember dreaming of being able to afford to play the 10p machines lol.  Then when I was old enough started going to the arcade in town.  I remember loving to play Labyrinth or Pyramid, getting into the middle and getting the jackpot to repeat.
