Due to being on Gamstop (though in about four weeks I’ll be able to come off the register if I choose), I of course haven’t been playing online and I don’t go in bookies because FOBTs are the gambling equivalent of letting a posh man in a monocle take a shit on your dinner plate and then eating it.
But, what with it being both my pay day and start of my xmas holiday today, I decided for the very first time to wander in to the land casino near my office on my way home. Sensible about it, because obviously there was a reason I signed up to Gamstop, I took in £100 cash and made sure I was genuinely content with myself that I could play that and not a penny more.
Sat at one of the slot machines with a nice selection of classic Novomatics. Started on Book of Ra – god I’ve missed playing that this last year – on a 50p stake. Got to £40 cash in with no bonus, had a fiver left on the credit so decided to play the last few spins on £1 before doing my other £60 on different games. Very last spin on Ra, bonus comes in on the cheeky raise. Full screen of Aces, in total bonus went for £230.
Played my other £60 on Dolphin’s Pearl and Lucky Lady’s Charm, no bonuses there but money lasted a while and had a fun time. Collected the £230, cashed it, walked out without so much looking at any other machines or roulette tables.
Not planning to make a habit of visiting land casinos, I don’t really like gambling around lots of other people, but pleased I managed to have 40 minutes of fun, make a nice Christmas profit and walk away without being remotely tempted to keep playing.
— no real point to the story, just thought I’d share! —
