Opinions?
This thread had to happen.
I’ve grown to detest them over the years and am gladdened by the fact they will be near extinct with the new legislation. I never had major issues with them but the amount of money I lot when drunk was ridiculous. Started going to pubs without a bookies in spitting distance to avoid them
13rd June 2018 at 4:20 pm #6608I’ve had many a problem on them myself mate over the years, once you slide one £20 note in that’s the end of it, the contents of the wallet usually follow!
Any idea on how long it is going to be before they all actually have to go down to £2 stake? I’d imagine the bookies are readying an appeal!
113rd June 2018 at 4:26 pm #6613A vote needs to go through parliament but that may not be until early next year and this will be a formality as it was the early 1900’s that a vote of this type was opposed. The bookies have then asked for 12 months to adjust. I’m gonna take a punt that it will be Jan 2020 before the £2 stake is in. The sooner the better for me though.

I go through stages of playing these machines and in the main im quite controlled.
Yesterday however i spunked a weeks wage with no thought for food for the week travel etc. Its my own daft fault for letting myself do it but the odd time ive done this i can only describe i get in a trance mode and just feed feed feed the machine. Luckily its only a week to payday

Trance Mode. never thought of it as that, but yes agree, and it is our own fault but difficult to get out of. Hope next weekend you can avoid them. One week or day at a time,
As for reduction in betting, although they agree it has to be done, they seem to be stalling as no one wants to see mass redundancies and shop closures as the book makers say, But it also illustrates how much they make from us idiots
13th February 2019 at 8:31 pm #48774Shouldn’t change it if people wanna waste there money in the bookies how can you stop them if you went into a pub and they said your only allowed 2 pints from now on because some people cant control there drinking how is that fair on those who go in there now and then and do maybe a £50 spin and walk away win or lose online is way worse u can do 1000s in 1 spin and the government can’t put any restrictions on these site as they aint based in the UK.

It would be an impossibility for pubs to determine how much alcohol a punter has parked down their neck, it is however a simple software update that can restrict a FOBt gambler from gambling £100 a minute to £2.
Gamstop is in place allowing UK players to exclude from gambling websites who operate using a license controlled by the UKGC, Problem gamblers can sign up to the Gamstop register within minutes.
There are offline casinos not regulated by the UKGC but they are invariably shite who will ultimately vanish should you hit that ultimate win.
13th February 2019 at 10:47 pm #48816Played the likes of Rainbow Riches on them but I’ve never been drawn in with FOBT Roulette, watched many a punter knock hell out them, they really are a massive piss take.
Watched a guy one day put something on every number bar 1 and the number he left blank landed, he was doing it over and over just to prove a point.
A big pal of mine wisely says………………………..<span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>All your doing is making rich people even richer </span>
That mate doesn’t gamble, not now anyway, but he’s right.
14th February 2019 at 12:07 am #48826these machines r cash cows for bookies . i know casinos arent much better . but in all the time i plyed these things ( and that was a lot ) i only once managed a jackpot .never been in a bookies since i started online and i stil lose .but my game play and big wins have massively improved . and now for the 1st time in my life i have a record of my gambling accs . and so does the wee wifey lol so i reckon ive cut them in half . but dont tel her that or id b right up shit creek haha
14th February 2019 at 12:15 am #48827Im in the minority,i have done my balls in them in the past, but wish they kept them as they are,as now its going to affect all of us who play online as online tax is increasing for casinos/bookies because of this, means we as online users will get fewer/shitter bonuses if any….so from a selfish point of view id rather they stayed as they were.
14th February 2019 at 12:21 am #48830Also it may just make more ppl gamble online, and the losses online happen even faster than these max £100 spins on roullette in a bookies, have done for me anyway.
14th February 2019 at 12:25 am #48831When there playing good there very good and when there bad there horrific, I have the problem of hitting the collect button on them when I’m ahead, the amount of times I’ve walked back to the car without a fucking dime in my pocket conversing with myself as to why I didn’t just press collect when I was hundreds up and now I’ve got jack shit, I have now nominated my farewell song to the FOBTs as
I am the resurrection by the stone roses.
