Just wondering if those that have signed up to gamban have regretted it or wish they had done it sooner. I’m on a losing run, but also looking to get a mortgage next year. The sensible thing i guess would be to sign up for a while to gamban. I just know I’ll miss betting on football and having the odd slot session. Guess I’m looking for some wisdom
10th June 2019 at 10:01 pm #68851Definitely the right thing to do mate, but make sure you do Gamstop (or both) but Gamban alone is pointless as it’s just software on your phone that you can turn on/off at will so it doesn’t actually do anything of any use.

The smart thing to do is sign up to both. Should you feel like you wanna place a football bet, go to the bookies.
I also find it smart to have 2 bank accounts, where you keep your gambling to a separate account, where you transfer a small amount monthly for gambling. If you’re able to stick to that, it’s so much easier to manage your finances, while hiding from your bank that you’re gambling from another bank.
Just my 2 cents anyway.
11th June 2019 at 12:07 am #68867Gamban or not, gambling transactions on your bank statements can be problematic when applying for a mortgage. Best to have 6+ months gambling transaction free on your account. So if you did go down the route of not using gamban as awesomex says another account for (hiding) your gambling transactions would be a good option
11th June 2019 at 2:37 am #68875I signed up about 3-4months ago and it’s been great. Not being able to gamble online has saved me a fortune.
I still text my pals or brother sometimes to stick a £10 or £20 bet on for me on the football or golf for a wee fix which is good because if my bet wins they transfer me the winnings back instead of me squandering it online.
I just need to learn to stay out the actual high street bookies now and stop playing they daft FOBTs and I’ll be fine ?
11th June 2019 at 6:53 am #68883Thanks everyone I’m going to bite the bullet and do it. Like you mentioned can just go to the bookies or ask someone to place a footy bet for me. Its the slots that kill me and i never play FOBTs. Thanks again
11th June 2019 at 9:19 am #68882The way i stopped was when paid all my money goes to a non card book account..bit of a pain but not having access to the dreaded debit card worked..was all ways skint at one point but now have healthy saving,s…My old woman pays my bills and just pay her when out near building society.(or sometimes forget yay ):)))))
11th June 2019 at 8:04 pm #68908Interesting question man, I keep saying I’m going to but haven’t yet although I’ve not gambled now for about two weeks, not that I don’t really really want to but I can’t afford to and once that rule is broken I find myself in big issues and the next time that does happen I’ll sign up for sure, basically giving my strength one last test
If you’ve been feeling the same but have been unable to stop I’d say signing up is a good idea, the feeling of loosing a shit ton of money has definitely gotta be worse than the feeling of a casino saying no you can’t play ?
11th June 2019 at 8:12 pm #68980Bit of advice please self excluded myself from bookies done it from a couple of online ones now need to do the next step which is gamstop, but just wondering if it effects your credit ratings or stops you getting phone contracts anyone can help be appreciated

You could get a visa electron (visa without the numbers on). This way you still have a card, but it cant be used for online transactions.
12th June 2019 at 7:28 pm #69128Is there a way you can stop without it affecting bet365 and sky etc?
No mate once you’ve signed up you won’t be able to play on any site that is part of the Gamstop scheme (most casinos) you’ll still be able to play at the shady online sites but why would you want too.
I wish there was more options than just straight banning yourself from all online casinos as I like to play a bit of poker but it’s blackjack, slots and roulette that do me in… If there was an option to just ban everything but poker I’d sign up in an instant but sadly the only option you get is how long you want to ban yourself for. Guess I’ll have to work on my self control.
12th June 2019 at 10:00 pm #69155if your problem is online spending and losing to much you think its a problem go for it and yes if you are going for a mortgage gambling transactions are a problem if you fancy a sly football bet are somet you can still go in the bookies maybe open a second bank acount i have 2 bank acounts one i only use for gambling transactions keep the other clean from out like that
13th June 2019 at 1:30 pm #69258I signed up to a one year ban! Part of me is a little gutted, but i also feel amazing at the same time. Already noticed having more spare time, soon I’ll have more savings per month and bandits back soon anyways. Thanks to everyone for your opinions and advice
