Looks like the RTP on online slots could be going down again 🙂
Gambling Commission has recommended that using credit cards to gamble should be banned and the government minister said he has “a good deal of sympathy” with Labour calls to prevent credit card gambling.
His remarks came after Shadow Culture Secretary Tom Watson raised the case of a woman who racked up a debt of more than ÂŁ100,000 using nine credit cards in just two days gambling online.
Mr Watson said: “The operators which took her bets should be held responsible for their disgraceful conduct.
27th April 2019 at 9:39 am #62794The strangest thing Dune. Some of us think the industry should be more supportive to the lives it profits from ruining, with problem gamblers.
I mean, nothing strange for me but it’s clear this forum has it’s fair share of people who disagree and they do spend a lot of time being more supportive of the profits and shall we say uncaring for the collateral damage.

I think it’s a cracking idea, and the industry can hardly argue the point without being hypocritical (not that they will have an issue with that)
Isn’t it them who say only gamble what you can afford – well that rules out credit cards, so the industry should be happy their advice is being followed 🙂
27th April 2019 at 10:32 am #62801The problem with that is that a lot of people play on their credit cards to keep the gambling transactions of the bank statement for obvious reasons.

So they do what the a number of the streamers do, one bank account for gambling and one for day to day use.
Lets face it, most of them are going to lose, they don’t need a double whammy of playing with money they haven’t got and then getting charged some ludicrous interest rate as they pay it off over 20 years 🙂
27th April 2019 at 10:45 am #62804Given gambling transactions are their own spending category on credit cards, anyone who thinks using a credit card to gamble somehow keeps the fact they’re gambling “off the books” as far as their bank is concerned should think again.
I’d welcome banning credit card deposits and indeed requiring all players to undertake the verification process before they can play anything.

This some little dodgy casino?, not many of the big operators take this sort of payment?
27th April 2019 at 7:37 pm #62907“3 year crackdown on gambling” lots of noise on advertising rules, not head anything on affiliation and streamers yet, however it wouldn’t surprise me ends up on the radar

It was pocketwin casino it just has roulette, in fairness to them they paid out on my withdrawal but it wasnt enough to cover the damage
27th April 2019 at 7:55 pm #62910While I agree that gambling shouldn’t be carried out with borrowed money (including credit cards), I disagree that the casinos should take full responsibility on the woman gambling away ÂŁ100k in 2 days. If she’s 18+ and has mental capacity, she should shoulder some of the responsibility. The rest of the responsibility should be down to safeguards that are agreed by the Gambling Commission.
