Hey everyone first time I’ve posted a topic here but here goes….
I wanted to chat about what people have been doing gambling wise during lockdown, I myself self excluded from all online casinos for 5 years as I felt things were getting a bit too much. Overall I’m up online which I suppose is a good thing but in gambling in general ie bookies, arcades & casinos I’m massively down.
I wonder if there is anyone who also is excluded online and if so what have you been doing while being unable to gamble?
I personally feel soo refreshed and stress free from not being able to gamble and in fact I’ve realised that maybe gambling was taking over my life a bit too much…. Shortly before the lockdown I had self excluded from a few local gambling halls etc as I was just spending too much time there and I excluded myself from bookies a couple of years ago because I just felt they were a rip off, mind you This was back in the day when you could go balls deep on roulette and get totally shafted in a matter a seconds.
Now we are at that point when they have announced that places will start to re open on 15th June. Including arcades etc so I am curious if anyone is itching to have a gamble if they haven’t been able to, if anyone has decided to give it up for good and if anyone has taken the lockdown as a way of looking at it from the other side of the coin and evaluating their gambling habits. So yeah I’d love to hear all your stories etc hopefully this thread gets some interest. Cheers guys 🙂
31st May 2020 at 9:24 am #99349I excluded online last April 19 like you I was up online but my bet size was increasing doing £20 spins isn’t going to end well so I excluded before I did my bollocks in! Before the pandemic hit I used to go to my local casino with my bankroll in cash and no other means of payment so as you can imagine lockdown is killing me as I cannot gamble online and the casinos are shut overall I am glad I excluded online as I would of spunked thousands otherwise!
Steve did mention meeting up somewhere for a beer and a session I would be up for that once the casinos reopened!
131st May 2020 at 2:19 pm #99370I have had a golden run since being on Furlough at the beginning of April. That being said I have reduced my depsoit limits on all sites, as the boredom can just make you bet even more which is a bad thing. Well done on the self exclusion, hopefully you don’t get that itch on the arcades when they reopen.
I do think when I was younger some 17 – 18 years ago when I started gambling, that if I had self excluded how my life would look now financially, back then I was a bit of a menace and would do all sorts of crazy shit. I moved abroad and after a horrible situation where my internet cut out on a really high cash game pot on poker, where I had Quad Kings I stopped gambling for some 9 months. Not sure if it was the break, getting older or just responding differently to gambling but I am a lot more controlled.
Huge amount of respect for those who do struggle and then self exclude. It is not always easy to look in the mirror and re evaluate in order to better yourself
23rd June 2020 at 2:49 pm #99573I’m on gamstop for 5 years too. I do miss going to the bingo hall, but even when they’re back open I wouldn’t go. Too risky with all those people there ?
