Is it in your blood? My mom gambled on just about everything you can bet on. I started gambling when I was 13, in pubs on machines you needed to be 18 to play on. Pub owners usually didn’t give a fuck as long as the money ( the little I had ) came in.
My brother started a bit later , but no doubt in my mind we started cause we saw our mom gamble so much. But, not everyone likes gambling and my brother and me loved it right away. We coulda tried it, then not done it anymore but we were hooked right away, like it was meant to be so.
So, is it in our blood? Do we have the gambling DNA ? The slots gene inbedded in our very flesh? ?
Tell me what you think about that, I’m sure I’m not the only one who had a “helping hand” in his/ her family that introduced them to their destiny ?
16th March 2019 at 10:44 am #55513No . My dad gambles . But my brother doesn’t. It’s like smoking mum and dad smoked , I smoked brother didn’t . My brother is a boring bastard. Loaded probably though .
116th March 2019 at 11:07 am #55515Definitely a yes for me in my family. My mother did. Her mum my grandmother and my brother did. Sadly none of them are still with us but i definitely think its rund our family. Its also just on my mother’s side as my dad or any of his family don’t and my step mother definitely not.
116th March 2019 at 12:55 pm #55529My father never worked in his life all his money came from gambling. However since Lithuania was at the time part Russia police kept pushing him, beating up, taking what he got with him etc. He was pushed out of 9 floor after he and my mum were separated when I was 5 years old by someone who broke into his apartament. I never knew any of that until I was 19 and my mum caught me playing poker. She wasn’t scared about me losing money, but that the same things might happen to me. After I explained that poker is paying for my studies and that no one is ever going to do the same to me as my dad she relaxed. Sucks that with new regulations here I can’t anymore play on pokerstars or anywhere else actually, unless live. Last withdraw I had on pokerstars was 17k euros, they paid about 9k and others kept after realising “I’m illegally gambling on their site”. Same happened on 888poker I was trying to make 3k cashout, they gave me back about 1750~ and froze the rest of it.

Yeah, gambling regulations are more strict here ( Belgium ) too, compared to most other parts of the world so, I assume the same or worse would happen for me if I played somewhere I wasn’t allowed. Fines up to 25K if we get caught by the gambling commission lol so, better not play where it’s not allowed.
Also, damn, some story about your dad! Life in Russia, at least in those days, was rough I bet ☹

Same here! My mom was a gambler, me and my brother as well, but not my step father and half brother. I guess my step father had the gambling anti-gene ?
My half brother went to a casino only once. He lost 15 euros and was sick for days about it lol, definitely not gambling material him ?
He has a lot more money than I do though, I wonder why that is ??

Yeah people who don’t gamble , smoke, drink, they all seem loaded. dunno why ?
17th March 2019 at 11:05 am #55645We have a lot of impulsive behaviour in our family tree but it spans gambling, smoking, drinking an on the plus side some bizarre on the spur life choices that have turned out for the positive – hobbies, job choices.
We have some that we don’t associate with though otherwise we’d want to just play Bonanza just for the soundtrack which would be more riveting by comparison to some of our lot.
Now that they can screen certain types of DNA, I can just see the obstetrician turning to the prospective parents and saying it’s a 50% chance that your child will be a casino -whale. Would you like to gamble on that ? 🙂
Good question OP
117th March 2019 at 11:09 am #55648Definitely. My parents never gambled (apart from lottery) but my grandad got me into horses. Natural progression from horses to football, then fobt’s when picking up winnings to online casino.
117th March 2019 at 11:14 am #55650Interesting thought. My family other than myself are totally against gambling. My father and sister never had a bet that i know of same with my mother other than bingo not sure if that falls into the same category. Saying that i technically rarely gamble myself just use the industry to my advantage ?

Well they can already tell if your children will have an increased chance of certain diseases so, who knows XD
Can already see the doctor saying it: ” This one’s got Reel King ladder written all over him ” ?

Alright, so you are on the “not in the dna” side I think ?
Although you don’t gamble a lot you say so, not sure…
Doesn’t matter though, I was just curious what people thought, not doing a study or anything ha XD
And I got a good amount of replies so, keeps us active in the forum 😉
