    Hi all,

I just have a quick query.

I self excluded myself for 5 years from gambling using Gamstop.  I’ve done 3 and a half years of the 5 and wanted to know if there is any way i can get rid of my exclusion and start playing again.

    Cheers,

    Lewis

    Wait 18 months 👍

That’s it. That’s the only option.

The itch will soon pass 😀

    The short answer is no

    the long answer is noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

There’s  no way around the gamstop, and even if there were I’d hope for the sake of others who are using it and part of our community here they wouldn’t announce it or suggest a way

Yeah mate, itches never shake off, just try remember the reason why  you went on it, refocus on the good things ,

but just fyi some casinos won’t have you back now that you have gone to gamstop, so just be aware , it’s kind of failing of gamstop that taking a break can mean losing the ability to slot in the future might be taken away,  I think a lot of people who would like to gamstop won’t use it because of that chance of their casinos rejecting them in the long term … so some will see it as good thing, others will get frustrated by it…

I was going to mention this but I try not to because it feels like I’m putting a downer on the whole system. It’s great, this is just frustrating… Most of the ones that will still take you are leaving the market as well in the UK 😞

However if someone does find a way around it, do let the right people know and keep how between relevant parties.

I’m pretty sure there isn’t a UK licensed casino that isn’t on the system now. There was a well known one that other youtube streamers were touting but they have now left the UK market thank goodness. They preyed on people, fuck them.

Just to clear up you can ask gamstop to remove you and they will did with me after 3 years of the 5 I was on but good luck finding a casino that 1 will take you back and 2 if they do take you back you have to jump through every hoop they have, I’ve been trying for nearly a year to re open my bet 365 account and it’s still not done even though I’ve been off Gamstop a lot of months now.

BTW this isn’t me giving people advice to leave GameStop this is just stating a fact you can actually leave Gamstop if they let you before your 5 years is up but you do also have to go through phonecalls with Gamstop and casinos to get an account back and be took off the register anyway basically once you sign up to gamstop regardless of how long your gambling life is pretty much over but there’s a reason people sign up in the first place so hey ho

I remember reading the opposite that they do not cut an exclusion short. The fact still remains true on their site FAQ.

    https://info.gamstop.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/4404992307602-Can-I-cancel-my-exclusion-early-

    GAMSTOP:

GAMSTOP – REMOVING MY EXCLUSION –  Minimum Exclusion Period
    1 year ago – Updated
Can I cancel my exclusion early?• No, we cannot remove anyone’s exclusion early. This is so that we can make sure the GAMSTOP scheme offers the best possible protection to vulnerable people.

That’s completely stupid, its against the point of the whole fucking system. I can only imagine it was a shorter exclusion than 5 years

*Edit – sorry I was completely angered then, it reads like I’m saying you’re making that up but I really don’t mean it like that, I know these places can be a bit loose with the rules it’s just a fucking joke that they did that*

To be honest I agree but they did I was 3 and a bit years into a 5 year exclusion and I rang them up and they took me off the system after a chat and stuff so it is true whether people choose to believe that or not haha it happened with me and it was definitely a 5 year exclusion

I think people who use gamstop should stay on it, and I say this with great respect , that the people using it don’t address the mental part of the problem…they stop playing and after 5 years think “ right I’m better now  “ but all they’ve done is pause the problem, they haven’t looked inward or got help for the mental  side of it…so they  play again and then rejoin gamstop because they fall down the  same hole. This is just my opinion but the break isn’t enough, it stops the rot but it doesn’t fix the rot, like all addiction some work  is also needed on the person, to figure out the why’ s and the how’s… so i say this with the greatest respect and sympathy, and the biggest  respect for the strength they had to start gamstop … but if you don’t add something like counselling to the gamstop action then gamstop alone is only delaying a future problem in the unlikely situation you are allowed to return to gambling site

ps I know a few of the good people  on here have had negative experiences and then been able to find a balance that works post gamstop which is awesome, but in generality after gamstop if people can access gambling sites they do find them selfs repeating the bad times…
