just seen this article on BBC news don’t know if it’s important to many but just bringing up awareness of a flaw in their system.
113th January 2019 at 11:19 am #37328Yea seen this morning, something about people self excluding being able to change a few personal details to allow them to continue playing. Stupid really cos if they win theyre guna have to forfeit it when the casino finds out.
13th January 2019 at 11:22 am #37329Saw this, and it becomes straight up lying who you are to register, so cannot really blame gamstop for them getting around it at this point. They did mention they were gonna start asking for identification to make this more secure. Seems pretty blown out of proportion for a newish scheme that is far better than anything we have had in the past.
13th January 2019 at 11:37 am #37334Not very wise to do this though, if a casino asks a player to verify when they make a cash out and see even the slightest sign of an error then you can bet your bottom dollar that they won’t pay out so these addicts are just tossing their hard earned cash away with no chance of winning.
13th January 2019 at 11:49 am #37332Yeah was gonna post the same thing about it being in the news!
Seems the in depth verification process on sign ups with Casinos online may finally fucking happen!
About bloody time.

Even with responsible gambling being in place it’s still pretty lax with online casinos so I’m glad this has come to light

The problem is though when you are that far down the rabbit hole it’s not just about winning or loosing it is about doing it. The high of seeing that win come in but not necessarily cashing it out
13th January 2019 at 12:11 pm #37352People need to wake up and realise these schemes are more of a self exclusion scheme rather than a total block on gambling, and that they need to take at least some self responsibility for their own actions!
You could recover from alcoholism but doesn’t mean all the pubs are going to stop selling beer!
13th January 2019 at 12:12 pm #37357I disagree, I would say I’m a problem gambler myself with a severe addictive personality and I would be doing myself a massive favour if I signed up to Gamstop but I can’t bring myself to do it. However if there was no reward to the gamble then I wouldn’t bother gambling at all, seeing a big win pop up on my screen and knowing that I won’t actually see any of that money would be enough to deter me, it would be just like playing for free which I only ever do to test out games and not for entertainment because it just isn’t as fun with nothing on the line.
But I suppose we all are different, I doubt any of these players who try this will continue for long once they find out that casinos will not pay them out.
13th January 2019 at 3:11 pm #37452I hope these people win 2 or 3 million pound then not see a penny then they might think “well that was pointless”
