To cut a long story short, and because I feel I need to share this to help myself as much as anyone else, so apologies!
My second 6 month period on Gamstop ended a few days ago. Spoke to them and decided to reopen one of my casino accounts.
Ended up £100 down on Bonanza, which isn’t a huge amount, but that chasing itch began to rear its ugly head again.
Before I gave myself time to think, I popped another 6 months on to Gamstop.
Such relief! There was a time where that £100 would have turned into maybe 300 or 400 on that night, the progressively worse throughout the month.
I no longer feel that I’m a problem gambler in the sense that for the best part of 11 months I’ve had no urge to gamble whatsoever, but clearly there is still an element of risk taking left in me!
So the long story in not such a short way is Gamstop works and I’m very grateful to it.
Now for my commute to the laptop. Teaching time!

It is a godsend, but don’t rob yourself of the victory that you made the right choice for you and yours…. pandemic will be over soonish and it’ll be another temptation you can look back on and be proud your choices were the right choices …. so good on ya
1st May 2020 at 12:55 pm #96770Now I’m off Gamstop, I’ve found just using short time outs of anywhere from 24 hours to a month to be really helpful, both after big losses and wins. Plus I only keep one active casino account now so if I put a temporary block on that for a few days, I know I’m good. Don’t ever sign up to new casinos any more anyway because of all the faff of verification and payout times.
1st May 2020 at 1:07 pm #96778Glad to hear that Gamstop has worked for you.
I’ve been on Gamstop for two months now, and knowing that I’m not able to gamble actually removes the urge in my mind. Having the option there makes it all the much too tempting to have a dabble, but once you remove that, it really does help.
I love gambling, but I miss it a lot less than I thought I would. I’m only on it for a year, just to have a cool off, but I may well extend it if I’m not feeling it!
I’d recommend Gamstop to anyone. So easy to sign up, too.
1st May 2020 at 2:18 pm #96786I’ve only got 1 account open now which I put the odd occasional 50 quid in, I try stick to the small stakes too! Also I can only put the 50 quid in with the deposit limit I’ve set on it.
Since I’ve started watching gambling streams I feel that has helped me too which is good!
1st May 2020 at 2:21 pm #96787To be honest, if I’ve had a few beers and then watch a streamer if kind of triggers the itch in me. Which means I’ve obviously got a problem with alcohol AND gambling ha ha.
1st May 2020 at 3:53 pm #96796I had to put deposit limits on all my accounts yesterday after a very silly session on slots and Roulette left me about 4k down in about 5 hours combined. Usually I leave them alone if I am on a bad run but yesterday was not one of those nights. I couldn’t do Gamstop as ny profitable areas ( Football and Horse Racing ) would be affected as well. Just need to leave the devils wheel alone, definitely my weakness. Dod help me win 8k earlier in April but best avoided really
It was money I could afford to lose but still not nice, and the deposit limits just give me that cushion to not go crazy for a few days and just calm down a little bit and get back to a normal sort of state of mind
2nd May 2020 at 5:57 am #96850Nice to hear that Gamstop has worked out well but I want to give little feedback regarding Gamban to this thread because why not.
Downloaded the app couple of weeks ago to my phone/laptop and honestly it hasn’t been doing the trick for me. I already had some serious tilts during April but it is really easy to evade with mobile VPN for example. Moreover after really shitty day I deposited 200€ yesterday with my working laptop (IT policies wont let me download any personal programs…).
Casino gods were stupidly lucky this time and I had a crazy run with almost every game I chose. Managed to raise my balance to 5k with only 1-2€ bets (couple of fiver bonuses here and there) and now I’m at least closer to hit break even for this year.
But seriously i think the only way to control online casino gambling is to contact your bank and request for Trustly etc. transaction ban. I do realize that luck won’t last so probably gonna do that and lick my wounds.
Fuckin hell, this quarantine is bringing some crazy profits to casinos, i tell ya…
