A good post Seyahkram and I can see how it might help to talk anonymously about the issue, though surely dialogue with a trained Counsellor would be more preferable, though I appreciate not always accessible.
In the film Pulp Fiction, Marsellus Wallace talks to Butch (Bruce Willis) about the nagging little thing that is gonna fuck with his mind with the fixing of the fight…..Pride.
I reckon until the addict loses his ‘Pride’ usually through being caught stealing, cheating and/or lieing by family and friends, then they haven’t hit rock bottom and wont address the issue properly. Then professional help is needed. Bailing out the individual is the worse thing that you can do, it’s simply enabling, they will be eternally grateful to you and promise that they will stop now that you have rescue them, then start gambling as soon as your back is turned.
Dr Eric Berne wrote a book called the Games People Play, one of which is the Alcoholic (or Drug Addict or Gambler) and the characters playing the game are defined, I think if you read that you will get an insight into the problem and the ‘helpers’ who ‘support’ the victim.

Sorry for the confusion. It was Gamstop, I think the post went off point a bit. But all is sorted now, thanks for the responses!

4th February 2020 at 8:57 am #90333I guess what he is saying is that as a degenerate gambler he somehow bucked the system and managed to get paid despite signing up to a product designed to stop him from feeding his online gambling habit?
So a ‘result’ in one sense and probably anything but a result in any another sense.
6th February 2020 at 5:23 pm #903966th February 2020 at 6:10 pm #90490No, It’s just I find it amusing that this place has such an ‘unusual’ clientele, a lot of whom seem to be gamblers that have had to employ means such as Gamstop etc to curb their excesses but yet are frequent visitors and posters to a website and forum that’s all about gambling.
It’s a bit like an Alcoholic staring through the windows of the Pub watching all the other folks drinking.
6th February 2020 at 8:10 pm #90507You go to any gambling forum, and there are many members who have gamstop active. I know quite a few members of other forums who have gamstop active. The forum is a place of support for people, not just to talk about gambling. I don’t think I could have gone as long as I have without gambling if it wasn’t for certain people here. Support, and sharing situations/stories is a big part of recovery in my opinion.

Maybe you should go to Alcoholics Anonymous instead… you know… a place filled with alcoholics, but that’s never helped anyone.
