[ar argyl53 WANTED $419 Outlaw]

BanditSnatch is a custom extension for the Chrome browser I wrote today for a laugh, just because I was bored. It allows you to block the posts, replies and quotes of any user on the forum you don’t like, simply by entering their username(s).

I’ll use Biohazard for the sake of example here because I’m sure he won’t mind 😀

First we click the extension’s button in the chrome toolbar and select options:

Enter our username(s) separated by commas:

Now let’s take a forum page view with the extension turned off:

Now let’s switch it on and reload:

….and it even works on quotes and replies

I only have one person blocked and I’m not naming names! Really I just did it for the amusement of building a Chrome extension, never tried that before and gotta do something to replace gambling. This is a very simple one that took literally about five minutes, I did have to read some developer docs for about 20 minutes first to know what I was doing but the possibilities are endless….swear word filter for the kids (not that I have any), all sorts of useful stuff you could do.

I will actually publish this to the extension store if people want it, but it costs $5 to verify your Chrome developer account so don’t expect it before the end of the month 😀

Just on the topic of this (sort of). Bandit or @Spidermint or @Seedy – is there any sort of age verification on sign up to this site? I can’t remember as I joined quite a while ago now, but it’s something we should probably have right? Just a simple DOB input to check the user is over 18 I guess.

Bit random, but Argyl’s post about swear word filters for kids just threw it into my mind. This site isn’t really suitable for kids.

I really like this. Would it be possible to hard code it to not be able to block Bandit, Spidermint and Seedy though?
