Hopefully this might help someone as what recently happened made me realise alot.
First post I’ve done but like to read alot of your posts. Love the bandits videos find them very entertaining and a good laugh.
I signed up to gamstop November last year I knew things were getting out of control as soon as wages went in I was straight online on slots. Started playing at start of last year after bad break up (14 year relationship ended) working away in remote location north of scotland with nothing about apart from the site wifi I played alot of hours. Yes there was decent wins but also bad loses. The wins were never enough. Falling behind with payments on things letters through the door enough was enough. So gamstop was a blessing when I signed up was such a relief that I couldn’t play online anymore. Finances back on track and not behind with anything.i tried the odd night over the time I’ve been signed up but i couldn’t play anything. I played free demos now and again.
Well last night I found one and played. I know I shouldn’t of but it’s the same old saying once just to win some money. 50 then 100 then 100 then 100 then 150. Got winnings up to 840 then within couple hours all gone.
What did I feel? Ashamed and guilty I had let myself down and realised the reason I signed up with gamstop in the first place.
Please please folks if youre signed up with any of the companies that help you and you find one that you can play (the one i found was a UK one by the way) don’t do it. Think back to the reason you signed up in the first place. I’ve learned a very hard lesson and it won’t be repeated. Sometimes it’s this beating we need to finally get it knocked into our skulls enough is enough.
If you’ve took the time to read this or it has helped someone then thankyou it is really appreciated.
2115th June 2019 at 12:07 pm #69673Thanks for posting your story and welcome to the forum. My advice is to self exclude yourself from this site asap. It is a harsh lesson but it’s still an achievement to find the courage and make the right decision to sign up to gamstop. We all have weak moments. Put it behind you and carry on doing the right thing. You’ve still done well.

You’re very welcome! Next bit of advice: Budget with saving money on top of your budget. Don’t save what you’ve got left after spending. Spend what you’ve got left after saving.
115th June 2019 at 5:34 pm #69920Sorry you went through this. Most of us on here have messed up with gambling more than once and ended up feeling guilty about it. Happy to see that you’ve self excluded from that site, but I’d also recommend that you look up their sister sites and self exclude with them too, in the case that they let you sign up. You could also email each online license holder and ask to be self excluded because of your issues. That way, hopefully, if it does happen again, you’ll be self excluded and you’ll not be aloud to sign up. Hope you’re feeling a little bit better now. 🙂
