In the pub yesterday my mate who btw very rarely plays slots sticks his change in the bandit last spin gets a nudge leaves 2 cherries on win line to may utter amazement he begins to wander off. I just stand there and say “you can’t leave that ” he’s like “what do you mean ” I say “it might hold” he just shruggs his shoulders and says ” and ” slight pause then I’m like best put a quid in. You probably guessed it no let em spin to which I get looked at as if I’m a fruitbat or got 2 heads or something and we wander off back to the bar where the missus is sat there pissin herself laughing and says “It didn’t hold did it” I said in a slight sarcastic voice ” No dear it did not” . So do you have a mate who just doesn’t have a clue? And other thing always remember were you the one in the pub like me who always got shouted at to hit the skill stop ?. Even after 8 pints someone would be playing the bandit shout you and say come and hit this for us and you’d be like ffs but just cos you wanted to show off you’d do it

To be honest mate I still don’t understand how gambling works. I understand the fundamentals of gambling, especially the maths behind poker etc. But sometimes I know i should walk away from something but I just keep going.

So to answer your question, some of my mates have no idea about gambling but in the same breath I have no idea why I used to make some of the decisions I used to do regularly.

In your case, I would have stuck a quid in as well though

Ahh pub fruities…haven’t played one in years but I remember holding down Cancel would usually make the skill stop go super slow. The good old days of listening to the pound coin drop to hear whether it was filling the hoppers or going down the excess money chute to the back.

I know what you mean mate. I’m going further back early 90’s when you couldn’t even slow em down and some you could skill climb to jackpot 6 or 8 quid. Like you said the good old days

To be honest fruits these days it would be another 20 quid for the board even with that anyway!

Gone are the days when you needed some skill to play fruit machines, now all you need is a fat wallet for it to empty you of!  Go to any random pub and observe how many fruits have been left with red reels for example, they mean absolutely bugger all these days!

Hahaha you want the call all day long. Your about 70% on that board (Not taking flushes into consideration etc) so dependant on the pot size you want the money in the middle but I agree it’s easy to tilt when it happens. But it’s also good to get there with the straight and I’m sure you will have done it at some point (I know I have) lol

The worst thing about playing poker iis playing a hand to perfection and losing against a rec player who chased every card.

Completely agree mate. Long term you will make money against these players but it always seams to happen at the worst possible time. Especially if they hit and run in a cash game that pisses me right off

Pub fruits – just can’t play them anymore as it seems half the bar staff or punters are sharking you. Turn around sharply after putting afew quid in and 3 or 4 bar staff scatter or pretend to be cleaning the pumps whilst secretly eyeing up how much you’re chucking in. Does my bonce in! Even had a pub landlord tell me not to play a fruit cos he was planning on playing it.

To be honest, I’ve never really understood how fruit machines work other than matching symbols on the reel is a way to win but game above the reels I usually have no clue and I’m just clicking whatever button lights up. I used to go into a kebab shop across the road from where I used to work to grab lunch and once while waiting I threw a squid into the fruit machine inside just to pass the time while they prepared my pizza and spun the reels I must have hit something because all the lights started going crazy….got on to the game above the reels and it was a Pizza themed fruity with a pizza in the middle acting as a wheel as the toppings lit up going around it to the center of it, guess you had to get to the center to hit the jackpot? Not really sure, anyways as I had no clue I was literally clicking buttons, it popped up I’ve won £12 so I just instantly collected it, could have been on for the jackpot if I had a clue what I was doing haha but at least it paid for my food, nothing like a bit of blind luck.

I was good at them lol

There was one 3 reel slot I used to like playing (can’t remember the name of it, but it was a footie slot that required 3 footballs in view to trigger the bonus), and I never failed to hit the top of the ladder I’m proud to say lol
