Hi Bandit,
Just wanted to posit this in response to your planned pub meet up. I have put this on a new thread as I didnt want it to get lost. I had decided to take a break from the forum but though that this needed mentioning.
I would really rethink the idea of having an open invite to a meet up mate. There is a reason why not many other streamers/forums have done much similar as you never know who is going to turn up and what is going to happen. On the other thread there is already someone saying they would be really interested and would like to bring a few mates down. This is from someone who is never active in the forums and is the first post they have ever put on.
I really think you need to look at the following:
1 – How many people you want to turn up. Look at some of the facebook open invites that have got horrendously out of hand. That poor girl in germany who had 21000 people turn up to a birthday party. Not sure if your local pub could hold 21000 people and the queue for the pool table would be horrendous but you know what I mean. There is no way with social media the way it is that you will be able to keep the location quiet so there needs to be a guestlist on the bar. There realistically needs to be security at the pub as well.
2 – The mental instability of some people. How many people have been fucked off from the forum or have tried to get free hand outs of you. When they get pissed off they rejoin the forum under different usernames and try to get money out of you in other ways. Over the years you have been very careful in protecting your identity as in not publishing your home address etc (which is common sense) but have you got something in place for the night to make sure no one tries to follow you home. Not trying to scare you with this mate; my main field of work for the last 14 years has been close protection/operational risk management and there are some fucking horror stories out there
3 – I honestly would not put it past someone to delibertleey cause a kick off just so they can post it on youtube for a “look at what happened at the Bandits piss up” or a “I caused shit in this pub” video
I am not trying to say dont have the meetup but I think you need to be a little bit careful with it. How well do you actually know the members and the potential crowd that is going to turn up. I really do think you need to have some sort of vetting in place for this or at least only select certain people for the first one. Yes you might get a lot of people complaining that they are not invited but you dont want to end up in a shit situation. What your trying to do for the pub is a good thing as they are struggling and it would be good to have a meetup with the forum, but you need to look at the crowd dynamic that might turn up.
Just my thoughts.

The people that would actually turn up would most likely be the ones there to have a laugh and perhaps take the opportunity to meet someone they watch all the time and feel like they already know. We aint all gangsters.

I didnt say that everyone is a gangster mate. What I am saying is that maybe there should be a cap on the amount of people or some sort of guest list for the event. Your active on the forum and have been around for a while so should be there, but I think there does need to be something in place for people who have only just joined or want to bring a car full of their mates who have nothing to do with the forum.
26th February 2019 at 10:21 am #51109I’m inclined to agree with the OP. Whilst it’s a sad reflection of society today, unfortunately it is necessary to keep your wits about you. And as much as an open invite event might seem a good idea in the context of this forum, it still only takes 1 or 2 nutters to ruin the whole thing or worse.

Having an open party for anyone to attend with a free bar is asking for trouble. Not even mentioning that its the Bandits local pub so he would not want to bring a negative situation amoungst the landlord when he attends there regularly!
I would love to go to meet the bandit and members of the community but I don’t drink and I don’t know if I would be in the country when it happens.
Would it not be wiser to just invite members of the forum who have made a meaningful and valid contribution to the community and perhaps allow them to bring a +1. At least that way I think most people will behave themselves and you could trust that they would bring someone with them who will also behave and enjoy the night.

Even if his mates are not there for trouble . How cheeky is it that he thinks he can bring all his mates to a free bar . At least ask !

I think people know my thoughts but anyway it’s not up to me. I do think it’s an excellent post. It just shows what kind of person you are to express such concerning thoughts. As ever your first thought as always is for the well being of people. Fair play to you mate.

If it’s safety, then I’d say if a nutter wanted to it would happen anyway, but I can see the crowd/numbers being an issue unless it was in a casino or something with security ?

Nothing paranoid about it. It is what it is. If you advertise a free bar at a location over social media then it will create massive crowds regardless of the location. But as long as your there to sit on everyone then it will be fine hahahaha.
Made me giggle that – had a vision of turning up and seeing you sat on top of a few people outside the bar “yeah bars through there mate, these fuckers are barred”

It’s better to have a small gathering with a bunch of forum regulars that he can invite through email than to make it open and have a bunch of freeloaders showing up especially if it is his local, you never can be to careful. 🙂

Ok yeahi get what you mean if someone was to turn up with loads of people but i will use me aa an example i wouldnt want to just turn up on my own. I would meet a friend in liverpool then head down now my mate has never been on the forum infact has prob never even heard of bandit does that mean he cant come? If you start to pick n choose thats when thing will go to shit. Take out the free bar plenty notice and people will still come ? also my mate may or may not be a gangster ?
