Should all youtubers be putting up mental health warnings or pages on advice as well as gam ban and such things…. as mental health seems pretty much rife going by the figures. Should it not be the responsibility of youtubers to warn people ?
Before all the fanboys and girls start saying am a hater I was off today and bored today and came across all that when looking at how casinos work as a spend alot on them
25th March 2019 at 8:07 pm #57512I think you’ve chosen your words wrong here mate to be honest.
Warn them about mental health? Warn them about what?
It should be their responsibility to warn people about what of mental health?
25th March 2019 at 8:07 pm #57513I think that the Bandit has already covered enough like marking up his videos as 18+ and providing addiction support via Gamban which he pays for. He also put disclaimers in his videos saying “if you don’t like this bet size, then press fast forwards” etc.
Readers and viewers of gambling material need to shoulder some responsibility imo. So you’re on YouTube, right? Then you search for something that you might enjoy, like online gambling. If you come across something irrelevant and you think that the subject matter might be upsetting, then look away. Possible triggers like natural disasters (real or fiction), buildings on fire, other addiction problems, previous traumatic events, terrorist incidents and so on. If you are on YouTube, or in fact, anywhere on the internet, then you need to make informed decisions yourself.

25th March 2019 at 8:28 pm #57517Think he means warning people who already have mental health problems. Bit confused. ?
125th March 2019 at 8:40 pm #57522slotter you need to be more specific mate im like most others confused to what the streamers should be warning about i suffer with mental health have done since a very young age from OCD agoraphobia panic attacks and many more i think imperial dragon covered it very well with what he said i use youtube because i can chose what i watch and not have any scare mongering from all medias streamers only cover slots the only thing i can think of that may cause someone triggers is some chats they talk about anything from football to terrorist attacks but a streamer cant warn there might be things said in chat that may upset or trigger peoples anxiety’s because they dont know whats going to be said till its said

Let’s make it their responsibility to remind people to get their flu jabs while we’re at it eh

25th March 2019 at 9:21 pm #57530Gambling-related harm is a term that is being increasingly used in British policy circles to describe the negative impacts of gambling across a range of areas. It includes focus on the health and psychological impact on the individual but also has more comprehensive reach moving beyond the directly-affected gambler to include their families, wider social networks and community (Responsible Gambling Strategy Board 2010). The social and health costs of problem gambling are potentially large at both individual and societal levels. For instance, adverse health consequences for problem gamblers and their partners include depression, anxiety, insomnia, gastric/intestinal disorders, migraine, and other stress-related disorders (Griffiths 2004)

there is academic papers on almost everything sorry but no i haven’t read them all. All you have done above is listed mental health issues and say its related to gambling all of the above could also be applied to alot of other things. Video games for example you could say the same issues could be caused by the above do game adverts say dont play if your mental? do restaurants have adds advising people with food disorders on how to eat. As for should video creators/youtubers or streamers highlight these problems my answer would be no. For a start they may have no idea on or about any types of mental health so what gives them the right to advise people on it?
25th March 2019 at 9:50 pm #57533It’s not a streamer’s job to cater for people who may have mental health issues.

Thanks i didn’t think i was particularly harsh. I will read and respect everyones opinion whether i agree or disagree with them.
25th March 2019 at 9:58 pm #57538It’s pretty stupid to claim you care about mental health, then call people “mental.” Kinda derogatory to people with mental health issues.
3125th March 2019 at 10:03 pm #57541That was mark griffeths who is a psychologist who focuses on gambling addiction. So I think he knows more than me and you and everyone on this site put together
