25th March 2019 at 11:32 pm #5757325th March 2019 at 11:40 pm #57574People aren’t gonna go and see a mental health professional because a streamer put a message in a video. They need to help themselves and the cotton wool society that we now live in is the cause of all this. People think they have clinical depression because they’re not happy sometimes and some Cunts just claim they’re depressed for attention, and it really takes a lot of credibility away for people who are actually clinically depressed.
126th March 2019 at 12:00 am #57576slotter the reply i gave to your post wasn’t in any way a dig just asking what should be warned by the steamers im all for mental health getting talked about more although its come along way in recent years it still has a very long way to go people still suffer but i cannot talk for all who suffer but for myself the bandits videos its a escape from day to struggles a distraction and believe me i need them i also throw myself into hobbies wood work gardening arts and crafts anything to escape the harsh reality of living with depression and anxiety but me personally im a gambler and its one of my past times i do see where your coming from how it could affect lets say a vulnerable person but bandit always states dont be fooled by this win and play within you means he is one of very few that doesn’t push these the casinos he plays at on you and i truly believe hes a nice genuine bloke who has helped people out of bad times even this now the forum/chat all payed for from the bandit other steamers are now following in his footsteps trying to make a platform for us viewers to have are say so please dont think im shooting your post down im really not just wanted to know what area of mental health you wanted to be warned about and for me i dont think its down to him to spread mental health awareness but he seem the kinda bloke is you sent him a email asking him if he would put the logo on his video in awareness month in may and see what happens
26th March 2019 at 12:07 am #57578Hi Slotter ???
Yes, you are correct that addiction causes mental health problems. Is it the streamers duty to advertise help? Err no.
Also addiction is a problem the user has to come face to face with on their on behalf, you cannot force an addict to receive help, as it will be shunned.
Addiction & mental health problems are conflated problems, one can cause the other & almost always have to be treated together. Your correct that there’s genuine study out there, and are great, help the user & Sufferer.
Imo you should be contacting your local MP’s to help provide more funding in the social sector for more mental health aid. Your time will be better spend and have better results. ??
Good day brother.

If somebody has mental health problems and gambling exacerbates those issues it’s down to the individual to avoid it.
I’ve got a friend a with mental health condition and alcohol has real adverse affect. So he avoids it, its not the pubs responsibility its his. Same rule applies
Also you’ve clearly come here with a bee in your bonnet and your snide and sarcy comments show it.. We are a caring bunch, but we don’t suffer dickheads who resort to calling people mental when theyre disagreed with.

Couldn’t agree more. We all read what he had to say. Tried to be polite best we could. Took his thoughts and opinions on board. Not much more to be said really.

26th March 2019 at 4:13 pm #57673Figure of speech nothing more than that. I haven’t said anything out of context to you. I have read everything you have wrote and responded in a civil way. YOU starting the thread and it’s us who are responding to what you wrote. Looking at the comments most have disagreed with you but that’s not to say your right or wrong. It’s just an opinion. Nothing more.

26th March 2019 at 4:25 pm #57676Personally I think it wouldn’t hurt if gambling streamers/Youtubers gave this topic a mention during mental health awareness week – this year it’s the 13th to 19th May. Just a quick mention of the darker side of addiction, in this case gambling, and the effect it can have on people wouldn’t hurt.
Mental health is quite close to home for me, as I’m sure it is for many others. I completely agree with others when they said it’s become a bit too ‘mainstream’ these days, with normal feelings and reactions being badged as a disorder. But there are still more genuine cases than ever, literally chemical imbalances in the brain. It’s important to remember that, and I think any sort of removal of the stigma associated with it is a great thing.
