Question for Eejit really or anyone else who may know

So you know when the game lands a line of top symbol with the first one one position away or when a game teases and you see the bottom of the last scatter but it misses, is that genuine bad luck and you really where one away or is it just a random display and just how it happened to look?

 

Not sure if I made much sense lol hope you get what I mean

It’s just display. If it doesn’t land, you’re not close, as there was no way it was ever gonna land.

It’s genuine bad luck. I know it doesn’t seem like it, but 2 points on this one:

First, substituting a losing spin with a “near miss” is specifically a no-no in Gambling Commission game rules. I think it even uses the phrase “near miss” in the guidelines.

Second, I can tell you from the prototype Backinamo Slot I was building, which I can tell you as the developer was 100% random on every spin, those near misses do happen surprisingly frequently by sheer chance on a typical reelset.

How I understand it is once you click spin it sends a message to the server the server shoots back if it’s a win/loss or bonus landing. Everything else that is displayed on the screen is just random. I could be wrong though.

I thought it was just a display but I got thinking about it from book of dead because the books always next to the same symbol so it really does feel more like genuine bad luck lol

I’m sure near-misses used to be programmed but I think they are supposedly banned now.  I also thought I heard someone say that on some machines there aren’t actually any bonus symbols on the reels, they only appear when the machine wants to give you a bonus or a tease

@Eightback the slot designers do that on purpose to encourage you to play more. If you feel it was a near miss you’ll want to play more as you were “so close” even though unfortunately there is no such thing. I can’t believe so many people still think the reels are random lol, even The Bandit did on the whole Final Countdown re-trigger fiasco haha the outcome is random but the display is just for fun ?

Yup. AND some of them now add music changes, subtly, to make you feel like its going to pay.

 

Ever noteice Moon Princess gets louder as you win more. They make you WANT to hear the music. Its genius. But also annoying

@eejit, sorry to hijack this thread with a different FOBT question but here goes.

So i’m Playing Lady of Magic. Bonus brings up 3 symbols 12 spins.  If I then switch to Thai Flower, same bonus principle, different symbols, am I just playing the same game with different symbols , or will either game give me different outcomes?

Hope that question makes sense

The reskins you mean? It’s highly unlikely they change the maths. They may make one of them more volatile (less low wins more jackpots) but it’s a waste as people play it anyway.

There are some weird posts being reported, pretty sure someone must be pressing the button by mistake.

Nah, I explained it wrong.  FOBT, 2 different games, same provider.  If I switch games on the machine does that affect the outcome or is the machine going to deliver the same payout regardless, just with different visual representations
