So I finally broke and went in a bookies that I’m not banned from to try the new roulette.
I think it’s still as addictive because you just want to hit the green and it might be slower to lose money BUT..
I think people will lose miles more as its hard to win anything back. At least on the old style you could be 200 in to it and hit back to back to get even again.
This has took away a massive chance to win anything the look you need to hit the green then hit something good seems impossible.
I went 20 plus quid without hitting the green and when I did it was a losing spin. The more you have on a number the smaller your green section. It’s just not going to ever hit.
The worse thing is tho it’s hard to leave tho as at 2 quid you keep pressing. This is going to end bad for a lot of new comers to fobts.
In 5 years we will see more damage because more ppl will lose.
Highly addictive with a stake that makes you think your not spending much. I find this new version very scary and I won’t be going back.
But it’s a tough itch to scratch

6th May 2019 at 8:52 pm #64987To be honest anyone stupid enough to bother playing it deserves to lose every penny…normal roulette has a house edge, this gamble style roulette just increases that even more in the bookies favor!
6th May 2019 at 9:51 pm #65026The gambling commission has recently warned paddy power and that slimey weasel betfred about trying to skirt around the two quid maximum bet on roulette with those ridiculous gamble features other bookies to follow soon me thinks.the commission seem to be getting their act together at last, not before time,

Maybe normal roulette in a casino has a house edge but even the old style fobt roulette was loaded more in favor for the bookies. The computer was the one who said its time to pay, not the luck of the ball dropping into your number.
Also I Did assume the £2 max bet would of just ment that you had £2 worth of chips to put on the table, with a spin every time. Max win £72 on straight number. This way is a right way around the rules. Keeping the addiction but paying out less.
If it was just 2 quid a spin on the wheel max. The game would die in the bookies, which is what we all thought would happen. this way its kept it going
7th May 2019 at 9:20 am #65082I’m pretty irritated by it, I used to often pop in the bookies with my change on the way back from the shop and pop a quid on 8 and hope it came in, which it did quite a lot lol now I can’t do that
I think 2quid a spin on the slots with only a 500quid max win is what should have been addressed rather than the roulette
7th May 2019 at 11:51 am #65120There’s no incentive to play it though because the big win seems impossible, so it’s a positive step in my opinion whatever way you look at it
7th May 2019 at 12:02 pm #65125Surely they should just say no Roulette on FOBT’s and make it for casinos only :/
7th May 2019 at 12:34 pm #65132That is the best idea, bookies should be about, sports and horses. Leave table games for casinos and slots for pubs and online.
17th May 2019 at 4:38 pm #65149In all fairness I have had a few big wins on the new roulette, just by putting the equivalent of £4 on a random number. Seems to come in quite a lot. Have had 5/6 hundred from £50 worth of play a few times. Don’t play it all that much though as I just don’t find it enjoyable any more.

1) I think people will lose miles more as its hard to win anything back. At least on the old style you could be 200 in to it and hit back to back to get even again.
2) This has took away a massive chance to win anything the look you need to hit the green then hit something good seems impossible.
1) The £2 stake was introduced to kill this train of thought – “If I keep betting and I’ll get even”. It is dangerous as gambling addicts <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>don’t</span> get even, they just bet more. Wishing for back to back wins to “get even” is insanity. I’m sure we’ve all done it (the old “one-time, please!”) but gamblers lose. The bookies aren’t running on fumes, they are all multi-million pound cash grabbers built on you losing on their machines.
2) See above. The new bookies roulette is not geared to pay out £500 spins, it’s designed to be an affordable bit of fun. Stick £10 in, you might win £15 back or you might be out of pocket the price of a round of drinks.
These reg’s were well overdue and I for one welcome them. I rarely played FoBT’s anyway but I have seen people literally chuck their lives into them, the high street would be a much better place without them altogether. Clearly you’re a problem gambler (“So I finally broke and went in a bookies that I’m not banned from…“) so surely you should be able to see that these rules are to protect you?
All that is missing now is a sign-up system. Those machines shouldn’t take a single penny unless you have a card or an ID number – essentially having to opt-in to play rather than opt-out when you discover you have a problem.
8th May 2019 at 10:46 am #65292I had a very small dabble, just a tenner, no luck, does anyone know if the green bar thing reduces the RTP of the game from the old way?
