I’ve often wondered whether when faced with selctions, the type you see in many bonuses, whether it’s a predetermined win/collect and now I know that it is.
I’ve played a game this week, at the same time having my 888 poker balance open on another screen. As you press play, you can see the balance going down/up before the reels have landed, but that’s not the main point I’m making here……
The game I’ve played has two levels to the bonus, and if you get a certain thing in the first part of the bonus, you then go on to a second bonus where you select options in order to progress up the ladder for higher stake multiplied by X.
It’s taken me many attempts to prove this, but here’s the example of what just happened to me….
Let’s say starting balance is £100. £2 stake. Pressed start, and triggered bonus. Triggering bonus earns me £5. Looked at my 888 balance and it’s gone up to £170.
Started the bonus by pressing start, 5 spins, £27 won in the first part and triggered the second bonus. Ladder is 5x/10x/20x etc up to 1000x.
Now I know I’m getting 20x. Whatever I press for the 5x/10x is going to win (£98+£5+£27+20x(£40)) = £170, and I also know that whatever I press on the 20x selection is a ‘collect’.
This same game has also shown me that as soon as I trigger the bonus, the balance is increased (on the 888 poker screen) by what I’m going to get in the bonus, irrespective of when I press start, or how the 5 bonus spins are going to unfold. I’ve had maybe 30-40 bonuses over the last week on this game and 100% has been accurate to the penny so it’s clearly predetermined, what I really wanted to prove to myself was that the second part to the bonus was also predetermined and actually my choices made no difference to the outcome. (It’s quite boring to know the outcome of a bonus before you’ve even started it but I had to look everytime so that when the second part of the bonus dropped, I could for once prove whether it was luck or not).
I hope I’ve explained the above in an understandable format, if not feel free to ask any Q. I’ve used writer’s licence with regards some of the details above (for example for ease of following the £figures are kept simple) but I’ve tried to be accurate with the other details.
So there you have it, when you trigger a bonus, it doesn’t matter what then follows in terms of spins on screen, the outcome is already decided, and further, the outcome of any seemingly random user-selection within the bonus is also already decided. The ‘collect’ would have happened on any of my selection at the 20x stage.
I’ve never previously known whether it is random or luck or whatever within bonuses, and now I know, it’s not.
Cheers.

Blueprints and Red Tiger are renowned for this – the latter loves a balance update before the bonus has even completed, annoyingly!
Gambles are not pre-determined. So if you have a bonus on a Blueprint, you can genuinely gamble that and there is no outcome already decided. It’s only upon taking the bonus that it calculates the payout.
15th January 2020 at 4:32 pm #87468This may not be new information, and @biohazard you’re probably right about it depending on the slot/provider (this was a “high 5 games” game), I just didn’t know for certain before today but I’ve proven it for myself. It kind of takes the joy away by knowing to the penny how much the bonus is worth before starting the bonus spins, I just thought it interesting (if potentially a bit of a spoiler) that the actual value of a bonus win is known at the moment the bonus is triggered.
I’ll never go through the ritual of kissing my hand before clicking the mouse again!
15th January 2020 at 5:09 pm #87478Blue print and red tiger are pre determined. If you land a bonus on a red tiger, and close it down for even a second, the bonus will have played out and show you what you won in a pop up box. Blue print updates the balance before the bonus or side feature is complete. Most sites updated to not show this before the bonus, but some still do it as far as I’m aware.
5th January 2020 at 5:35 pm #87489Novomatics are random, even in the bonus though I believe. That’s why they’re so enjoyable. I feel like I’ve always got a good chance at 200-300x every time I get a bonus. Don’t get that with any other provider.
15th January 2020 at 8:08 pm #87544Basically everything above is 100% factually true. Certain providers are predetermined. Some are not. Best example is once you click collect on Diamond mine – the bonus amount is calculated and the reels spin 12 times (or more) to bring it in.
On bonanza each spin is random.
15th January 2020 at 9:42 pm #87558El Dorado Infinity Spins is also predetermined, I always grind for the saved top bonus but noticed my balance update in the second window I Had open, this was on Casumo who are normally good for not updating the balance till the bonus is complete, even on Red Tiger and Blueprint games.
Kinda depressing, makes the bonus way less interesting but will teach me not to look at the second window when playing two games at the same time.
16th January 2020 at 11:35 am #87470A slot machine is just a massive tombola with millions or billions of tickets…..as soon you hit spin, it picks a ticket. This ticket has a value, just we see that value as an outcome of the spin, bonus round or whatever.
