Late 80’s line up, rat race and reel crazy. 90’s crazy pays, wheel of fortune, seventh heaven, monopoly, monte Carlo, only fools and horses. 2000’s megaslot, rainbow riches when they first came out, psycho cash beast 250, casino crazy 250 plus any red gaming slot.
114th January 2019 at 11:03 pm #38039Totally forgot about those Monty Python slots…loved them. Also loved Arabian Knights, Neptunes Treasure…..Spiker the Biker comes to mind too (spinning a 4 first press meant invincibility was incoming). Pretty much anything Barcrest did back then was awesome.
14th January 2019 at 11:07 pm #38040I had a love/hate relationship with various Red machines – those ones with the double trails could be a bitch at times (like Nitro). Others like Quake were awesome which could spit out 4 jackpots in about 30 seconds. Happy days.
15th January 2019 at 3:49 pm #38664Think I’ve played fruities since I was about 6! Terrible i know.
Started with one call 2p gambler I think, £2.40 jackpot and you could turbo gamble any win up to jackpot. At 7 I only collected jackpot or £1.20. If the old man took us to a pub he played them and I’d push start for him.
Never played to win a fortune but I was that mate for a while that spent all night ploughing a fruitie…. didn’t want to feel beaten by it.
Anyway like many people the best were up to £25 jps. Never really lost a lot and had fun. Now they are savage. Remember putting 200 odd in a 35 dond for nothing. What a mug.
Fav machines were party time and golden game though not really pub fruits.
Be good all.
15th January 2019 at 3:53 pm #38668Does anyone remember the 10p/spin – £100 Jackpot, used to go around the feature board until you hit the ‘?’ and then the bouncer used to say ‘YOUR DRUNK AND DISORDERLY’ and kick you off the future. That was the beginning of my gambling feature, was only about 9 in a work mans club got given a couple quid to shut me up for couple minutes came back with £60. Straight down cash converter for a few mega drive games haha!
15th January 2019 at 4:50 pm #38726I remember back in the 90s when machines still paid out tokens, I was at a local hotel with my mates, we were killing time before making our way into the city for another night of getting knockbacks off the birds. Anyway the fruity I was playing was Las Vegas or something like that, ended up winning £50 which to my disappointment was paid out in fucking tokens. The barmaid said that she could exchange them for drink so we ended up drinking the lot ( that was when £50 could buy you a decent prostitute ), long story short the taxi was arriving in half an hour so we drank every cocktail the barmaid could fit in a glass. Long story short again my 2 mates ended up punching lumps out of each other before we got a foot in the door of the club. Taxi, home time, no money, no bird.
Ahhh those were fucking great days, you young guys are a shower of fucking fairies these days, too busy taking pictures of ur dinners and posting them on Instagram. Bufties the lot of ya.
15th January 2019 at 4:51 pm #38727p.s. I didn’t get involved in the fight, I was too busy asking the prostitute if she accepted tokens

Don’t know there born these days lad. Not meaning to play up on the stereotype of being the miserable Scottish fucker but she never even gave me any change back from me tokens.
119th January 2019 at 12:13 pm #40289Used to have a a few ‘club’ versions in our works club back in the 80s / 90s before it was closed down. Favourites were such as “The Ritz”, “Cops and Robbers” and “Make a Million” – the latter two were £250 jackpots and all had twin ‘cashpots’ that rarely paid as the DIP switch was set to ‘infrequent’. However, the payout was 98% so jackpots on the feature boards were almost every day. I remember, when I was on bar-duty, I’d be called out by some of the customers to help their kids with some feature or nudges that quite often got me a pint as the jackpots rolled. We used to just give them the ‘top-up’ key and tell them to ‘now bloody well put it all back in again!’
Never did get to grips with pub fruities though but I recognise a lot of the names in this thread fleecing me quicker than a drunken Martingale at a rigged wheel 🙂
Thanks for posting this. Happy memories mostly.
21st January 2019 at 11:49 pm #41355I only gamble on the FOBT’s and would love to some of the old classics revived & modernized and put onto the machines in the bookies. Crystal Maze was a big fav of mine.
25th January 2019 at 10:32 am #42640Past an arcade today at work and saw the old Phycho cash beast 10p spin £5JP god the memories!
Im sure when you lost on the board it said “Phycho cash beast” I can still hear it in my head haha. I’d love to hear it again and play it.
Anyone remember the old Donkey Kong £5 JP and if you held cancel whilst spinning you got skill nudges every time ? cleaned up on that one a few times in my day.
30th January 2019 at 11:18 pm #44967remember they had crystal maze at our local ten-pin bowling centre it had an £8 jackpot anything over £4 paid in tokens lol. It usually went for one sometimes even two Jackies, was only about 16 at the time and £16 was quite a bit of dosh :). remember once me and my mates rinsed it for £58 off £1.80 🙂 happy dayz
30th January 2019 at 11:29 pm #44971can’t remember the name of the machine but it used to have a dog similar to spike from disney saying, ” That’s my boy!” on a let ’em spin was one slot. Others beside the ones you’ve mentioned are up up and away, money talks, aliens, Adams family, cash flow, snake rattle and roll, cops and robbers, lord of the rings, jolly gem, ceasers palace’s club and arcade versions. and the classic CASINO CRAZY :). there was another called supernova that was a £25 jackie that used to go for about £350 or something stupid lol. Juggling jackpots (JJ) was another good one once you understood how to approach it, it played slighty different to other machines at the time if u were going for the top/streak. funnily enough JJ I have noticed has started to make an appearance on the pub touch screens machines these days and if you play it right u can actually win off it which is unheard of these days on pub machines lol
