Im sorry but i have to comment here. this isnt fire-starting here Seedy but i think you need some assistance.

 

This site is growing, and get VERY busy when Steve posts a new video, especially a high stakes or RK video. Various threads start and all kind of things happen. Begging, complaints, destruction, hatred, name calling, viciousness the list goes on. I fall into that at times and thats on me.

However – there is no moderation on here. Checking in once every now and then and not starting discussions, or getting them back on track, is going to kill the forum.

As for members – I know 0 people on here personally. But you have people actively leading conversations calling people cunts, you have people making up random points to base arguments on, going against people with factual analysis, then starting all out wars if they arent listened to on their completely made up train of thoughts. Conspiracy theories are fine, but for the people replying to them with proof, they cant be called out, nor can reps from casinos. Im not saying show them love, but these reps will end up giving this forum a LOT of free stuff, Videoslots can arrange a bonus for BIAM members, Casumo can do a competition, Energy did Beat the Bandit, that all stems from numbers and respect.

Without the respect to treat each other with a modicum of respect, whats the point in even talking? Ill admit i am openly hostile at times if people are aggressive or warping the minds of others, and as for the guys promoting casinos to those on Gamban or Gamstop, they should be banned immediately. If someone has gone to that level to avoid gaming, someone throwing casinos they can use at them is morally reprehensible.

Someone who claims their fact or facts to be true ?
Someone who holds some sort of officialdom therefore cannot tell lies ?

Something like the office for national statistics would qualify as a credible source Mr B, here’s what I imagine your both talking about, I feel this is how debates should go moving forward, if you disagree with the stats below please show an equally credible source stating the statistics you believe to be true

Ok eightblack is right that’s a credible source and any debate that’s wants to wave the FACT wand around has to provide it in link form and not links to newspapers or bullshit like that.

There are a few industry insiders on the forum giving you upfront information no insulting them. @eejit101 is one of them.

Let’s get away from the gambling for a moment.

In 2017 my local council presented the official statistic that 6 people were homeless.  There is no link to prove otherwise, unless the local paper’s website or something as ‘official’ is brave enough to contradict the official statistic given. They weren’t.

So does that then ruin my credibility when I sit here and tell you that there were at least 80 homeless people that ‘we’ know about and over 200 people being fed at the local soup kitchen every day? This of course was in 2017.

I’m not sure what the current stats are which is irrelevant as the point is the source was a blatant lie.

Worse, if one person is sleeping in the windy rainy cold doorway with little more than a piece of cardboard to keep them from the cold ground, that in itself is absolutely wrong. That 80 or so people are doing similar and the official stat was a lie, is no less absolutely wrong and neither one nor 80 mean the debate is to be skipped trolled or ruined because it’s somehow ok.

In the past two years, numerous homeless people whom I personally know and were friends with, have lost their lives due to being homeless. Granted, there is more indepth “stuff” to their stories but had they not been homeless, they would not be dead.

Now back to the stat I shared. Not created, shared.

I echoed that early 2018, 44 lives were lost to suicide connected to gambling, in 6 weeks and provided a link to that source. Geezawin commented on it from a heartfelt point of view.

That link seems to have been removed. I have since been accused of not providing source. That source was an established newspaper website and sighted politicians as making that statement.

One member tried to command that the only credible source for gambling suicide is a coroner and that only (sic) 20 were recorded in 15 years, I think the numbers were. Coroners are tasked with cause of death, not reason for it. ‘mile in my shoes’ – Yes, if they have the knowledge at the time a report is created, they will undoubtedly add that detail but is it fair to say that may not always be the case ? I think so, given the stats I shared.

So to be totally clear, officials can and do lie and there is room for a debate on what is credible as acceptable source.

I hear what your saying and regarding the homeless situation in your town I have no idea, I do know the local councils will try to mask the problem though.. I have known a few people to be homeless and they did mostly suffer from substance abuse issues which led to their situation and what happened was they where given a place in a hostel which had a curfew and a complete ban on drugs/alcohol which for somebody with a hardcore drug problem was not an option so they slept rough with the “homeless community” so while these people are actually homeless, on paper they have a bed and therefor can’t be counted in the official statistic.. Which I agree is shady and misleading

 

With regards to the gambling suicide debate, the link I posted states 21 deaths in 15 years, I didn’t see the source linked by geeza but I’d look at it with an open mind but until I do see it I can only go on what the ONS says

To be clear, the homeless point (as shite as it is) was about the fact that the official statistic didn’t tell the truth. And I sighted the source, Geezawin replied about it so I assumed must have seen it. Stating something along the lines of how that really grounds the issue, or words to that effect. I do believe it was on the thread that was removed as I tried to search but cannot find it now.

I know what you meant and I sort of agree, I don’t think the official stats are wrong per se but i agree they can be made to be deliberately misleading, theresa may will tell you there are more people in work than ever, which is true but it also counts zero hour contracts who work an hour a month so it is <span style=”font-size: 1rem;”>misleading as fuck. </span>

Yea, and they did move the goalposts when it came to homelessness. I forget now how they did it but it was unacceptable to me and many who support the homeless. So we’re still left with no trustworthy source and in the most part find it doesn’t matter anyway because we all know there is suffering from gambling, lives ruined, families ruined and so on. I’m still not letting go of the crime funded gambling either.
