Last night, got sent through a dog tip – Stuck £100 on it, the thing got beat.
I was still on my paddypower app and noticed it was still giving me the chance to cash out the bet at £80..
So I quickly cashed out the bet and realised it was still taking bets for the race! So obviously I put the £80 on the winner…
Account went straight into +£300 so i quickly cashed out via paypal, 30minutes later my PP account went into -£300 and my PP +£300
Thought it would be denied bla bla, woke up this morning my PP is back to £0 and my Bank account is +300 fresh notes of free sweetness.
– Now thinking back I shoulda stuck the tri-cast on and would be up a sweet £5000 but also think I’m lucky enough to have got the 300 and winning 5000 might have caused problems that would have been looked into more and ended up with sweet FA as the account going into -300 already shows they knew about a tech hitch.
Thoughts? Anyone have a similar tale?

Not bad if dont plan on using them again they can persist to get these funds back so keep that in mind before spending it. Most of the time they will just send emails and not proceed with legal action with amounts so small. I would also message your tipster and call him a knob for being useless…
119th March 2019 at 11:39 am #56214My view (as a lawyer) is they can’t pursue it. They could have reversed it in your PP account if the funds were there but otherwise they are stuck.
If they now take “legal action” against you to recover the money the true position needs to be analysed which is – you placed a bet with funds you didn’t have. This world amount to a credit agreement between you and paddy power and therefore no permissible and against the law on their part.
Tbey would therefore never pursue, simply put your account back to £0 via a good will or account adjustment measure on their accounts and let it go.
Nice win pal and yes shame amount the tri cast being an afterthought!
219th March 2019 at 4:59 pm #56247Got an email to a dispute I didnt even raise….Shall I just reply ‘Soz already got your money?’ – they can go fk themselves after the amount you hear of people getting fucked over for not being fully verified. :
“Call – Bet Settlement dispute

Due to a technical problem, the Greyhound Racing was still active and displayed on our site after the event had begun. In accordance with our rules, we are obliged to void your bets placed on this event. Below is our rule regarding late bets:Our rules state:
‘Bets are accepted up to the off-time of the event or a pre-determined time whichever the earlier.
Any bet inadvertently accepted after the betting has closed or where the event was resolved or at a stage where the customer could have any indication of the outcome will be settled at the correct price at the time the bet was placed.
The correct price will be determined by Paddy Power’s trading department.
Bets placed after the final event result is known will be voided.
Should there be a dispute over the off-time of an event/market where an official starting time is not given by that sports governing body, then the time that Paddy Power determines the event to have started will govern settlement of all bets.’

They certainly can persue this if they wish too and in this case would mostly likely win if they did. By the looks of it they have already raised a dispute. Time will tell

Interestingly enough, many years ago on my one and only foray into drunken online gambling I used my card and deposited around £900, I went way down and then managed to get the balance back up, immediately had it credited to my card and never went back – so money out and money in.
a few months later I get a letter from Mecca bingo legal department threatening me with court action for the money I “owed” them.
It appears that at some time previously I had opened up an account with my email address to do the free play option and they had put my deposit to that account – they blamed a computer glitch 🙂
naturally I got a full apology from there legal department and help desk – yeah right, like that was ever going to happen:-)
But it does raise the question, how did they think I actually played their online slots if I had never deposited money
The day they allow credit on online gaming we are all screwed
19th March 2019 at 5:55 pm #56256They do offer it on credit to a certain degree, some casinos let you deposit with your phone bill so you don’t pay till your bill comes out, during my worst gambling times I fucked myself with it.. Still paying back now ? imagine the hassle they’d give you withdrawing a chunk through that method.. I got 500 out and they dragged their heels for that

Yeah i could see that being real easy to go through hundreds and not even realise how much your upto on the bill same for ingame/app purchases so easy to just add to bill then at the end of the month wonder why the bill is through the roof

19th March 2019 at 9:45 pm #56263If you word an appropriate response the most they will do is close your account. Never in a million years will they actually pursue it.
Not worth the bad publicity, the risk of them being in breach of anything etc – they will probably write it off as a gesture of goodwill if you reoly
wjth something along the lines of.
i didn’t realise there had been an error. I withdrew my winnings and spent them on priority bills. You asking me to return the money is effectively like you let me place a bet on credit and now ask for the funds to be returned, this would cause me financial hardship.
Please let me know I can escalate this further.
I would be astounded if they Didn’t just write it off and close the account – upto you as to how much you want your pp account but let us know the eventual outcome!
