7th January 2019 at 6:51 pm #35255@thebandit – Mate if you have the coin, stop fucking about and get the best FTTP available. If it’s not a big job for BT, it will cost you less than £2K. I know that seems extortionate for the internet but it will add value to your house and you will thank yourself for it every day. Your kids will want to be on their phones/tablets/consoles at the same time the Mrs is watching something on BBC iPlayer and you are trying to get a video out! It won’t happen unless you have good internet. It’s only gonna get worse because all these services are demanding more bandwidth as time goes on.
From the thing you posted, your internet is <1% as fast as my fibre connection. It would take you 200 hours to download a full-length HD movie and about 500 hours to upload one !!!!
I don’t have a problem paying for it mate, the guy said it simply wasn’t possible when he initially arrived. He said 2025, as in the year, 2025 lol
7th January 2019 at 7:10 pm #35259Steve – obviously I’ve emailed you and will be looking into it in more detail, but in the meantime, register your interest in fibre as part of a community partnership here:
7th January 2019 at 7:46 pm #35269@biohazard – if you work for BT I’ll leave it up to you. I posted that to the bandit a few days ago. It pretty much explains all the options, pros and cons, with a link to the community projects …….

If you want the best possible connection, you need FTTP (fibre to the premises). The install on that can be £2K + depending on your location. There are community projects with BT that provide funding for internet access in areas with poor connectivity. You might be able to get them to pay for it.
You’re using a 4G dongle right now? That might be your best option but it’s far from ideal
Satellite internet probably isn’t sufficient for your bandwidth usage needs (your head will explode if all the slots lag)

Being the small business that is going to single-handedly save us after Brexit, maybe investing in FTTP is a good idea. It will boost the value of your property by a small amount too
@thebandit (no spaces) – Most of the BT engineers know what they are talking about. Did you discuss FTTP with him/her?
7th January 2019 at 7:48 pm #35270One suggestion, maybe not a great one, dont know how well you get on with your new neighbours. Maybe ask to leach off their wifi and offer a contribution to the bill. I know if my neighbour asked I would probably say no but thats cos hes a cock and will probably use all my band width downloading dubious porn.
7th January 2019 at 7:57 pm #35274Aye I had a similar problem with BT, swiftly told them to foxtrot Oscar and now get 220mb/s with Virgin ??
7th January 2019 at 7:58 pm #35276Sorry if I come across as a dick. I want you to fix it and have great internet so you can provide us with great content ASAP!
The link I gave above has all the info you need

8th January 2019 at 8:59 pm #356098th January 2019 at 10:56 pm #35659I had similar issues, I live in the middle of knowhere. My download was 2mb and upload was about .6.
to get fibre to my door, I got a quote from openreach, who by the way are massivly incompetant, that quote was £120,000, yes 120k. That was to run broadband from the nearest cabinet 4 miles away. Next option was satelite broadband, I had that installed, it was ok, cost me £80 per month for 10mb down, about 2 up. But my package was a maximum of 80gb a month, you can get more but at a price. I had that for 18 months until a company started installling masts around my area, they fit a dish to the side of my house and I now get 30mb down and about 3 up, but its uncontended, so in effect its much faster.
In my humble opinion, I think you should investigate satelite broadband. It has vastly improved in the last couple of years. You now transmit and recieve from the dish, rather than just recieve and rely on a landline to transmit.
9th January 2019 at 6:38 am #35711Jesus, no HD porn for you then good sir! Bad times indeed. It’s pretty crippling though for someone who uploads videos like yourself to be getting those speeds. I would advise against shadow and try and sort it out with your ISP really as Im sure you already have a good PC so it’s empty money really paying for a subscription service.
9th January 2019 at 7:08 am #35713An old house mate and friend of mine works for BT he is a supervisor who specifically deals with solving customers issues, albeit not in your neck of the woods, but I can enquire if you wish 🙂 . we got BT at mine and we had issues with the new hub/modem had to swap it for the older model works great now 🙂
9th January 2019 at 7:56 am #35726Can’t you just switch provider and get virgin media fibre optic 100mg I find bt piss poor imo
