I do understand his and your point of view, morally is isn’t that ethical I agree but there are some games and sidebets that casinos use that have up to a 19.43% house edge. As you know this number is incredibly high and imo is as morally unethical as making sixteen accounts to exploit a glitch to gain a advantage.

When I worked at Grosvenor casinos one of the touchbets had  a glitch in the system, basically what happened was £20 notes were being processed as £50. My question to you is would you only put that one £20 in or would you take advantage and put more in? Another one (true story) a auto roulette wheel had  been incorrectly made and it had 2 halfs of the same wheel. In one night 2 players made around 17k between them before the mistake was realised. The casino had no legal right to get that money back. (Casino did ask and were refused and subsequently barred) would you exploit this and make a decent wedge? And if you did would you give the money back if caught despite no legal obligation to do so?

Imho it comes down to morals and ethics. If I found a wallet or purse with money in it, I would and have found the person to give it all back. I know many people wouldn’t which I would consider thievery, but  faced with these questions that I have asked I would 100% take the chance and I would not consider myself or anyone else a thief who did so.

Sorry @Dynamik23, I wasn’t questioning your morality. It’s definitely not as clear cut, ethically, as some other examples that people have posted here over the years.

Also, I do agree with the whole side bet house edge situation, I love side bets for the volatility, but the sheer amount of edge on them is disgraceful most of the time. And they don’t make that easy to view either.

In all of your examples, I would make the party in question aware of the situation so that they could rectify it. I’ve played a lot of blackjack in casinos over the years, and the amount of times that the dealers have overpaid me is crazy. But I always make them aware of it and give them the money back, as it’s the right thing to do and so they don’t get penalised as a result.

It’s all good bro, I didn’t think you were. I have 7 years of croupier experience and trust me the only time a dealer would be penalised for a over/under payment is if it was over their allowed threshold to pay without a check. I once underpaid a player by I think 1.8k and about an hour later realised and told the manager. I was all clear as I got it checked by my inspector who got it checked by the pitboss so it’s goes onto the pitbosses head. What I do if I’m over paid is tell the dealer or if I realise after the money is in my stack/hand I give it as a tip. Like you said this isn’t a clear cut right and wrong imo. Is it morally wrong? It’s close. Is it taking advantage? 100%. Does it make OP a thief? For me no but I can see why others would think so. Like you say I believe some the BJ sidebets are disgraceful and morally way worse than anything OP did, especially when it comes down to clearly advising it. An example is aces. 4 of the same suited ace wins the jackpot. Ranges from 100k-500k. £1 bet but house edge is 19.43%. with all the bells and whistles and the huge screen, you can barely see it. I know games are regulated but I don’t think sidebets are put under as much scrutiny as new games are.
