Hi, Guys and Gals of BackInAMo and Sir Bandit,

I write this a warning, not as a sore loser!

I did allow the casino in question time to answer my question, as of today, four days later they have yet to respond so I feel it is my duty as a seasoned casino player, seasoned gambler and online casino industry employee to point out the experience that I had at 888.com.

Having had a good scout around for a welcome offer to utilise, fancying a session of small stakes slotting, after discarding around 35 casinos that made me feel uncomfortable for various reasons I stumbled across 888.com. I saw that they were offering 100% match up to €140 (I am British but live in Malta, hence the €) I scanned the Ts&Cs for the wagering requirement and max stake while wagering, 30x was stated and that is more than fair with me. I could not find the max stake per spin amount anywhere!? As I was only going to be doing small stakes I was not overly concerned with the max bet amount.

I SHOULD HAVE READ THEM WORD FOR WORD!!!!!!

The session got off to a great start and was hovering between €500-€700 bracket and after 2 hours I had managed to complete the majority of the €8400 wagering, admittedly the bet size had ramped up to my average stake of €3-€5 when I found myself on Immortal Romance to finish out the wager that currently stood at around €1200. Donk, Donk, Donk, in came the scatters, as Amber was the only option available, Amber it was! The first 9 spins were non-descript like 99.9% of IR bonuses are! I was not expecting much difference from 10th and final spin when Reel 1: Sarah, Reel 2: Sarah and wild, Reel 3: Sarah and wild, Reel: 4 wild, Reel 5 Sarah! Boom, the alarm bells start to ring, congratulations!!!!! I must point out that by now I am down to a little over €100 in the balance and betting at €4.20 per spin……Within one second of the win landing, 888.com decided that they would ruin the win in all its glory.

Instantly they smashed a big banner across the screen just like a bad loser that, now its time to pay up, they panic and do not want to be held accountable. The banner was informing me that they were going in dry, no lube, no spit, just bend over and touch your toes! you should have read our massively weighted, in their favour, bonus terms and conditions. My initial thought was that I had exceeded the max stake, but having checked and sticking below €5 I was confident that was not the issue so, instead of enjoying the 765x win I instead had to read the fuck you panic banner that was plastered over the screen while listening to the bells of the joyous win count up that you would normally be dancing to only this time they sounded more like a corporation rape alarm letting you know that 888.com was just about to run a train on you!

What I had done was won too much money on a single spin, I had no idea that I was playing a FOBT!? The message congratulated me that I had won €504.20, a max win of €500 and my stake rolled back into my balance, well shit the bed! Max cash out, kind of understanding with a welcome offer, capped winnings on non-deposit free spins, kind of get that, capped win on a deposit bonus with 30x wagering attached to the whole amount!??? They are even capping my half of the money, that is fucking criminal. Like I stated at the start of my post, I avoided numerous unknown casinos before landing at the corrupt doors of 888.com that would not have had such a weighted condition attached to the welcome offer. I wrongly assumed that 888.com being a household name in the online gambling community would be a level above the rest and have no reason to stiff the player any more than the built in house edge that they always have, how wrong was I and how stupid I felt for not reading the Ts&Cs word for word, a mistake that I am guilty of in this instance and of previously but a mistake that I will never make again.

When you think about the max win per spin cap, the amount of wagering required to clear versus the amount of funds that you have to start with in your balance, €240 at 30x and 50% of that is your hard cash. Even the dumbest of gamblers will not need a protractor and a ruler to work out that you are fucked from the off! You would have to go on a run of your life to even come close! I had a really good run and even with the €500 that they let me keep after my wager was completed, I could withdraw what I deposited! As you can imagine, the tilt factor had slightly kicked in by now and they ended up with the lot!

I will wipe my mouth and take this as a costly lesson learnt but I wanted to allow the CUNTS to answer my question before I posted the warning, and the question I asked was why? Why have the max win per spin cap? Surviving the wager without that in place is a feat enough in its self so why add the impossible to the already improbable? It was not a rude email, I just asked the question and they have yet to respond.

Anyway I guess the point to this post is three-fold, firstly, always read the Tc&Cs of everything, this is a dog industry and regardless of the brand they all generally want to fuck us one way or another, not all but most! Secondly, avoid 888.com, they really are scum-sucking piss ants that do not need to make things harder for the player but chose to do so anyway and in my book, there is no lower form of a company. Third and finally it has made me feel a little better! I am by no means a keyboard warrior or a sore loser but if my loss/win of €3,500.00 saves just one of you from doing the same then great, I can live with that. Plus they will be getting a link to this thread so let’s let them know that we as a forum of gamblers will be avoiding them and their offers in the future and playing at casinos where we stand an accepted chance of winning when we actually do!

You can check the win/loss on my twitter for shits and giggles @zeroRTP

That is so rough. Terrible terms and conditions having a max win is so sick, 888 are plasterd everywhere with a very in your face marketing scheme.

Its as if to say don’t win too much cause we going to pay you fuck all of it.

Yup if they 1st part is true you should really know better and know to read terms before taking any bonus, its a bit late to question them after the fact

I am not questioning them after the fact, I own this! I should have read them more than once before creating the account or accepting the bonus. I will take this as a lesson learned.

My question to them was why? Why have them? If they had responded with “because we are greedy corporate cunts and we can do what we like” then I would have thanked them for their honesty and got on with my day! Obviously still not agreeing with them.

If things are not questioned, even after the event then nothing changes! If you request an explanation with a polite question with grounds for it to be asked then you would hope that an answer would be delivered.

    Jesus.

Overall running bonuses is unprofitable for casinos. If they give out enough they will lose money. But this is insane now. This should be banned

Disgrace. I remember year 8years ago I signed up to 888 and was given a bonus that I didn’t want. 18 at the time and didn’t know much about gambling. Won £500 on roulette and tried to cash out and it was rejected. After a lengthy phone call they said they would refund my £100 but that was it. About a year ago I signed up to 888 again for the free £88 and managed to spin the max win of £15 to £350 and cashed it out. Will never play at the casino again just because of that first experience. If i knew what I know now I would have fought it to the death and would have won as I never accepted a bonus thus not accepting the bonus terms. Any casino that does this max win thing needs to be named and shamed.

Casino’s should show significant terms and conditions up front – IE, make it upfront and clear the important elements of the promotion. If you feel like they’ve not done this and “buried” in the terms section, you should complain to the ASA who will be able to consider your complaint.

This happened to me once on a Nektan Casino, all be it to make it worse, they put the money in my account as cash and then said I wasn’t allowed to withdraw more than the win amount (I was out over 9K as a result). Unfortunately for them, I know what Casino games have the highest progressive contribution rates / License fees attached to them and was able to empty enough of it into the right game to at least feel like I was hurting them in return!

    Good luck.
