Phew! Not quite the horror story I was prepared for. But yeah you finished 4k up after 34k in, would’ve been less risky to have a punt on roulette with 10k on red for that margin. Building it back up again from £1.60 stake probably a good idea!

I will actually publish this to the extension store if people want it, but it costs $5 to verify your Chrome developer account so don’t expect it before the end of the month 😀

I only have one person blocked and I’m not naming names! Really I just did it for the amusement of building a Chrome extension, never tried that before and gotta do something to replace gambling. This is a very simple one that took literally about five minutes, I did have to read some developer docs for about 20 minutes first to know what I was doing but the possibilities are endless….swear word filter for the kids (not that I have any), all sorts of useful stuff you could do.

Yeah the decent ones are definitely the deposit match bonuses where either 1) bonus money is released in wager-free increments (e.g. Videoslots) or 2) bonus money and real money are kept separate until your original deposit runs out, then the bonus funds are used as an extra life.

I always liked Casumo where you can play with combined real and bonus money and it simply splits your stakes proportionately, so £100 + £50 bonus means on a 60p slot spin, 40p comes from real cash and 20p from the bonus. Wins go back in the same proportion, so if you got a big hit you could still withdraw most of your winnings in cash at any time and just forfeit the remaining bonus.

@Biohazard I’m not sure the casinos can technically block deposits from cards other than your own though – casino deposits aren’t different from any other form of online shopping or payment in that respect, the transactions go through a 3rd party payment processor and the casino gets the result. They could require you to fully verify your ID, address and bank card before you’re allowed to attempt a deposit but obviously that would put a lot of people off signing up and trying sites out, since you’d be looking at registering and then 24-48 hours delay before you were allowed to play anything.

Yeah really if there’s a max withdrawal on bonus money at some low level like £50, putting wagering on top to even get that is too stingy for my liking. I wouldn’t say you were scammed, I mean you’re still getting £50 off what I presume was a no deposit bonus. But it’s another lesson on the forum today in why it’s so important to read the terms attached to these offers before you take them.

Yeah it will be a once in a lifetime dream hit and I do feel bad for the player when this sort of situation arises, but it’s so easily avoidable. Look at The Bandit, has he had trouble withdrawing literally hundreds of thousands from Casumo and Videoslots over the last year? Of course not, because he’s using his own verified account and his own card. These rules aren’t buried in some obscure section of lengthy legal documents, they’re common to all casinos because they’re the rules laid down by the industry regulator. Most of the practices around verification and withdrawals exist to prevent fraud and money laundering. Again, any casino will obviously jump at the chance to void your winnings if they have even half a legitimate excuse to do it, so what you do as a player is stick to the rules and not give them one.

Casinos are businesses and will therefore leap on any chance to not pay out money they don’t have to. But they’re also heavily regulated, which means as long as you abide by the terms and conditions they don’t have a leg to stand on. I never had a problem cashing out from any casino because I made sure I read the terms and stuck to them. Some, like only using your own account, your own card, your own ID, should be pretty obvious, others people tend to fall foul of are bonus wagering, bonus excluded games and maximum stakes with bonus funds. Double check everything you type in when you sign up. Put in the wrong house number by mistake? You need to contact support and correct that before they ask you to verify your account. Make sure your account is verified before you attempt any large withdrawal. Only ever try to withdraw to the same card used to deposit.

Stick to these rules and the casinos can’t screw you out of your money. Trying to take them to court in a case like this won’t get you anywhere, the contract you make with them is in accordance with the terms they publish and if those terms say the card you use to deposit has to be your own, you have no recourse if you then use someone else’s card. If you do want to use a spouse’s card and have their permission, always contact the casino beforehand and explain the situation. If they allow this kind of arrangement, expect your spouse will also be required to send in ID and verification.

    A few off memory:

Twice on Videoslots on Bonanza I had the bonus land first spin, though I don’t think it went for more than 50x either time.

£200 Captain Venture bonus first press, 80p stake, bonus finished, I hit spin again, another bonus landed straight away.

200x first press Book of Ra feature (Explorer symbol, 2 x3 expansions).

We all love a bit of a mental ballsy gamble – particularly when it’s not our money on the line 😀 was a thrilling watch if nothing else!

Am I getting you right, you deposited, money came off your card but didn’t go on your casino balance? If so, I’ve had this before at a couple of places. Once the money was just automatically reverted to my card a few hours later, the other times I had to argue the toss with the casino and send bank statements proving they’d taken the money but I did eventually get it back.

Technically, it happens (usually) because of a fault between the casino and their payment processing provider. The separate payment processing company charges your card, but the casino’s software doesn’t get or doesn’t successfully process the notification that the transaction went through. It’s a thankfully rare but annoying glitch that can happen.

Idea #2: Bandit Bonus Bingo. This one is a bit more long term and would be a probably big giveaway. The site randomly assigns six slot titles to each member from a selection of say 30. As Steve puts out videos, members mark off each title on their card where a bonus on it was achieved in a video. The first person to match all six gets the combined winnings of those bonuses.

Idea #3: Bandit’s Steel Balls. Could replace the picks feature on the site given Gandalf and Golden Fish Tank don’t see much action these days. Instead of picks for those games, members submit 3 or 4 picks for steel balls numbered from 1-30. Bandit does a random draw of numbers in a video and if someone matches all their numbers, they get a giveaway in the form of a bonus win, or maybe a Reel King ladder top at £1 stake.

That was the old B3 Rainbow Riches arcade machine, which paid out your £500 entirely in pound coins and the pot feature had amounts on it rather than just cumulative bronze, silver and gold. Yeah it used to be a good game back then, that was about 10 or 12 years ago, I had loads of jackpots of that, leprechauns going to £500, five wishing wells etc. Also the original Reel King around the same time used to give me loads of 5 scroll for £500 features.
