You’ve definitely been very unlucky if you’ve only had those 3 big wins playing daily. I don’t play even close to every day and I’ve hit literally dozens of wins 500x or more in the last 18 months (mostly on teeny tiny stakes and my losses have been a lot bigger than my wins, but still!)…hell, I hit 1000x on Venture last night. Also wins of 100-300x are pretty common and count to me as “big”.

Big win pic is now up, though it pales in comparison to some lucky bugger’s nigh-on 20 grand off £1 stake on Queen of Riches 😮

£50 for what amounts to probably less than 1/40 chance of winning £500 is just crazy, it shouldn’t even be allowed. Sooner they cap those FOBT stakes the better. I’ve said this before – even £2 is a massive stake online which can easily pay over 10 grand if you get a really lucky hit. Hell, if I’d been playing Venture at £2 last night, my bonus would have gone for around £2100. I’ve won more than £500 off 40p on some games. I’d never touch a FOBT now.

Two key differences: your winnings online aren’t capped at £500 and on slots, the percentages are massively higher (typically 95-98% versus 91%). Also, while you can stake much, much bigger amounts online, for some reason it doesn’t seem to attract problem gamblers in the same way FOBTs do. I think it’s something about the idea of instant cashout in the bookies, walking out with a wad of hard notes.

I said this on another thread yesterday; the initial trigger coming in with a +5 seems to be a bad sign on Bonanza, I’d rather just have the 12 with a retrigger in the bonus.

Your results are particularly unlucky though; just in the last 2 weeks I’ve had about two dozen features on this game in total, including 3 which went for 400x or above. I’d say half were 15x or less, the rest between 50-100x. Anything between 25 and 500 spins to land.

I was £100 in and down to my last tenner(ish) so obviously was happy to hit £300 bonus, though I think I was more chuffed about hitting the scatters straight up on the first press, it feels so sweet when that happens on a game which can go hundreds of spins without it.

Yeah it did occur to me that if I’d clicked a couple more times to up my stake, the spin would have been at a different microsecond and therefore not have been the same spin, but last time I hit a 1000xer I was on a healthy £1 stake so it did sting my greed a little to get it on 30p this time. But hey ho, I play at the stakes I can afford. Withdrew £200, lost the other £100 pretty swiftly trying some higher stakes. Big win pic should be added to the next lot going up.

Book of Ra seems to bonus for me now a lot less frequently than it used to….could be coincidence, could be the result of a tweak to the game.

Flamebusters was never really any good for me; I got sick of getting the bonus repeatedly only for it to actually pay less than you’d get just from having 10 paid spins in the base game. I think once I got a decent-ish 200x bonus off it, but most of the time I’d actually joke to myself in the feature “oh wow, 3x, yeah that’s a stonking great feature by this game’s standards!” – I think my lowest bonus win was 0.5x and my average was easily less than 10x.

For the most part, I still play the same games I’ve always played because I usually stick to games I know I like, will float the balance reasonably well and probably give me a few features even if they’re not spectacular. I used to love Reel King but don’t play that much any more because for the number of times Steve’s hit the top, I’ve never got close and it did my head in trying. It’s like the game after the one time it gave me 5 scrolls a few presses in decided that after that, I’d had my win and it would never pay again. Lucky Lady’s Charm is another one I used to play a lot, but is now a rare stand-out among the Novos for me, because I haven’t hit a bonus on it in about a year, yet when I first started playing it I had several 250-500x bonuses with loads of retriggers.

My rule of thumb is that for a good session, you should be starting with 500 x your stake. So if I deposit £100, 25p is about the highest I can go (with a couple of exceptions – I’ll play on Bonanza on 60p for example because I know 100 spins will probably only cost about £20 total). If I have a month where I’m feeling rich, I’ll start with £250 and go 40p or 50p stakes depending on the game. I just can’t bear to play even £1 on a £100 or £200 starting point, because most of the time if you do that you’ll be bust in 20 minutes and I’ll feel like I haven’t had my fix of slots for the money.

Backlash was mostly from one poster, wasn’t it? To be fair, when I read your post yesterday at first I wrongly thought it was a dig at me because I’d been posting on the “14 billion spins later” thread which Steve actually gave the guy a Captain Venture bonus for in his video – but like I said, I didn’t know there was a new video when I was writing on there and I guess I then got defensive because it was so cringy for me when I later realised what it looked like I was doing. So apologies for any misunderstanding. I have since seen the flood of new posts from new accounts and you were right, the sheer volume of poor me I can’t get a bonus sob stories were getting ridiculous.

I don’t play Blueprint myself; they’re basically just shit bookie FOBTs but online (they’re a huge FOBT provider, you’ll see a lot of the same titles if you go in a bookies).

They are the only provider of online games I’ve seen where a £2 stake bonus will typically pay about £30 – exactly like playing in a bookies. I know a few people have had mental wins on Genie Megaways, but I’ve given that game probably a total of a couple of thousand spins on 20p and I don’t think I’ve seen a win bigger than about £6, or had a bonus drop without buying it.

They just don’t compare to the potential of Novos, BTG, NetEnts or Play N Go. Blueprints don’t even tend to float well – if you don’t get lucky and hit a big win, your balance will be destroyed in minutes. Compare your session RTP across 100 spins on a Blueprint to all the other providers I mentioned and see how bad it is. Most games I play I expect between 30-70% session RTP, depending on how volatile the particular game is, even if I haven’t hit a feature. I was getting about 15% on Blueprint, so I just don’t bother anymore.

It has gone a bit mental, hasn’t it? But I’m sure The Bandit can easily spot the brand new sign ups who’ve posted one topic about how they’ve lost on whatever game. But it’s only the new sign ups which are basically begging spam accounts that annoy me. I don’t actually begrudge regular, contributing members chancing it by telling their bad luck stories; it’s very generous of Steve to just randomly give away bonus winnings to his community from time to time and for those of us who’ve never won a prize draw or even just hit a decent feature with our own money on games we see other people getting good hits off all the time, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with thinking you know just once, I wish it could be me. As long as it’s being done with no expectation or sense of entitlement, just a fingers-crossed that one day you’ll be enjoying a video and a bit of banter and be the one who gets a stop and gasp moment when you hear The Bandit mention your name and go “here you are mate, this one’s for you”

Most unfortunately yesterday I was talking about games I can’t ever get a good hit off before I knew there was a video up (it may have been before it was uploaded, actually) in response to another post about Captain Venture, I only saw what was happening because it came up on the forum. Only then of course did I cringe as I realised it’s going to potentially look to other people like I was not-so-subtly hinting for something, when I really was just having a moan about a couple of games which tend to consistently play badly for me. But I post pretty regularly about my slot experiences both good and bad on here, so hopefully my post history won’t leave people thinking that about me.

Bonanza can be very disappointing when it comes to extra spins and retriggers, given how rare they are. I’ve also had a double retrigger which paid bugger all, whereas I’ve had over 500x off the regular 12 spins. Crushing when you’ve waited 300 spins for the bonus and it mugs you off for 10x.

I’ve mentioned it on another post but my most devastatingly disappointing bonus was Captain Venture, when it triggered for 10 spins and didn’t pay anything on a single one, so my bonus was only the 2x you get for the initial 3 scatters. I never thought I’d see that happen.

Actually, I was meaning to share this observation to see if anyone else has noticed (or can confirm I’m just seeing a pattern where there isn’t one): in my experience with Bonanza, the good bonuses which have paid big have always been when it’s just smashed in GOLD with no tease. Where it very occasionally actually lands the D after doing the tease on the first three letters with a drop, I’ve found those are the ones that pay naff all.

Depends what counts as a good slot for you. If you mean best possible chance of hitting the biggest possible win, I’d say most of the Novomatic (Greentube) slots. Explorer line on Book of Ra for example will yield £50 on 10p stake, £500 for a full screen of them in the feature. Captain Venture, if you got super lucky and hit a wild line during the bonus would pay something ridiculous on 10p stake like £800 I think. Reel King you might be able to do a Bandit and hit the top of the ladder at 10p for £100.
