Alright laaaaa ? the Mrs is in one of her nagging moods again (like most days).

I do watch some of his videos – he must have a serious bankroll as he does take some horrendous hits. He did do some online streaming but not really his thing (plus he did have a game on £50 stakes once instead of £2). Will be interesting to see what happens to his channel when the new restrictions come in; I know he plays a lot of FOBT slots but a lot of his subscribers like the roulette sessions – once thats gone he will need to change his format or loose viewers.

Hehe, You ever watch those TV programmes where their interviewing married couples and they say “we’ve been married 50 years and never had a cross word with each other”, I usually shout at the telly “You couldn’t have spoke to each other in 50 fucking years”, its women for you fella, moaning is in their D.N.A.

I’ve watched Stop and Step a handful of times at best, usually just watch the bandit and rocknrolla occasionally. Got to give the guy his due though it’s a highly polished video he produces albeit a bit daft with the cartoon thingies, he even sells tshirts and mugs on his channel. Think the bandits missing out on a merchandise opportunity lol.

@AceHigh – I agree with most of what you say but it will be interesting to see how many people actually end up online as apposed to the FOBT. When the FOBT’s first came out, mobile phones where not like they are today so it was not as easy to play slots/casino on the go etc.

I think the main attraction of the FOBT is the ease in which it can be hidden from the Mrs/Home life etc. “Just nipping the bookies love, back in a bit” and very easily do your bollocks in on the FOBT when placing a normal bet (done it myself a few times).

Online gambling is now under a lot more stricter regulations (we know from the forums how hard it is for some people to get verified and have their money paid out due to verification etc.); FOBT’s are a little different as it is cash or load up from card, but they are a lot more lax in the bookies over whose card is being used. As long as the pin is right, in my experiences they tend not to give a shit.

The bookies will survive the FOBT’s being reduced, they just wont keep as many shops open. I work from home and go all over the country,  but my main work office is Manchester. Between my office and the Arndale shopping centre (about a 5 minute walk) there must be over 8 bookies, some of them the same company but having multiple shops. There is no way they will keep multiple shops open when the new imits come into force.

I also agree that the bookies will get around the limits, but I dont think that you will be able to stake £100 every 30 seconds on slots like you can with roulette; the slots do not appeal to everyone anyway and I know a few people who have said they will just play at the casinos instead as they are only interested in playing roulette on the FOBT’s and nothing else.

I dont think that overall the online casinos will be to happy either as their tax threshold is changing (which we all know they can comfortably afford) but this may impact the kinds of deposit bonuses we see. I would think that we will see a massive increase in bonus being offered for new sign ups just after the new limits come in, but established members will see their bonus offers reduced to balance this out

No matter what happens, the next couple of months will be interesting for the gambling community.

Alright Our kid, thought you were a little quiet this evening haha. I meant to say in my last post how terrifying the FOBts have become. There is a fella who records FOBt slot sessions and posts them onto youtube daily. I don’t want to mention names so let’s call him step and stop, I’ve nothing against this fella he loves his slots. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a FOBt slots session where the bookies are offering an enhanced game with an option of a £30 and £50 megagame. This shows me how greedy and irresponsible the high street bookies have become, these parasites need called back into line and April 2019 will put an end to their little game.

To be honest as a player who uses FOBT and online gambling………… because of the poor value on FOBTS my play and stake is reduced when playing them compared to online however for everyone man you see in a bookie ‘doing his bollocks in’ there are hundreds online doing the same but in the their own homes which we will never see. To play a FOBT you need to be 18 to open an account online the same age, as much as I appreciate that FOBT cause problems but the problem is the individuals desire to gamble, what FOBT has done has put it in view of the general public.

If 10 FOBT users played in a bookies but then the FOBT got banned 8 out of those 10 in my opinion in their desire to gamble would do it online with possibly the same results.

Since watching streamers and THE BANDIT in particular it puts gambling into prospective and highlights the highs and lows of gambling and offers help to those that need it. FOBT has not encouraged people to lose control anymore than online gambling has. In my opinion FOBT offer considerably less value than online but that then becomes choice albeit its easier to walk into a bookies than open an online account.

I by no way defend FOBT as I too believe lowering the stakes to £2 will be even less value but will still attract the same clientele including myself but £40 is my limit then I walk regardless because my main desire is online where the 1000x win is so appealing.

I’m sure my opinion will not be met by some but happy to have had the opportunity to share my view so thanks THE BANDIT for having a great community website where we can interact with like minded people.

Thanks for the reply Ace, I am glad that your opinion offers a different perspective to the way other people think about the FOBts. The reason I started the thread was to offer some “food for thought” for the forum members, I noticed the Reel King thread was starting to become a little long so I just fancied throwing the cat among the pigeons.

When the restrictions for the FOBts were first introduced the news was full of guys like John McRirick etc.. arguing that it’s an outrage how FOBts should be restricted when someone could lose their savings in their own household, at this point I felt a little aggrieved as I had signed up for Gamstop and realised how watertight this register was in regards to mass self exclusion. I called Gamstop that afternoon and asked them why they had no spokespeople who could point out the great work they had done at this crucial time, they didn’t have an answer. Gamstop is a “one stop shop” which takes minutes to sign up to, when you sign up you are officially barred from the club so to speak.

The problem with bookies and FOBts in particular is that it is so easy to find them in any high street, village or hamlet within the UK, I self excluded in all the bookies in the Glasgow district but would jump in the car and drive 10 minutes out of town for my fix, eventually I would just visit the local bookies as they ignored the exclusion order after a while. Ive just turned 44 and admit that I have spunked away a good period of my life sitting in debt that I and I alone had built up playing these machines, I just don’t want to see the same thing happen to some fella who walks in the bookies door with his wages in his back pocket.

Welcome to the forum Ace lad. Its now your turn to start a thread my friend.

My best friend is a manager in a bookies. He’s told me that on certain versions of roulette the customer’s balance will be updated on their monitor behind the counter as soon as the punter has hit the spin button. So they can tell if it’s been a winning or losing spin before the machine has shown the animation of the ball landing on a number. The staff CAN’T determine the outcome of any spin, it IS random and fair.

I’ve had conversations with him in the past along the lines of, “you must want them all to lose?” and actually it’s the opposite. Staff in bookmakers are on very low pay and one of the few perks they sometimes get is the odd tip off of a winning punter. People tend not to tip when they lose!

Thanks for clearing that up lad, it’s been that long I was starting to think I was imagining things. Back then the manager of the shop was a prick, one of these types that like to see people lose, believe it or not but there are people commenting on the forum who willingly want to see the bandit end up penniless on Reel King, makes no sense but it is what it is. cheers mate.

Fobt wrecked community’s, glad there going down… Sooner the better… Fuck them.

Absolutely wrecked people in Glasgow, I remember the weeks they 1st came in & a few months later they had took the spirit of gambling from everyone who touched them.

Ruined the riverboat casino, 1 of the busiest places in the UK at the time… These things have caused untold stories of misery, put familys in destitution. I have seen good friends absolutely ruined from Fobt and still don’t leave the house due to fear of going back… Truly fuck these Fobt.

Hopefully it will bring back a bit of the high street again, but I can see them trying every trick in the book to keep the wages coming.

Thanks for your contribution Stevie and as a Glaswegian myself I can resonate the damage these bastards have inflicted on our fine city. I can confidently predict that the people of London, Manchester, Cardiff etc.. will feel the exact same as us North of the border, Our city centres are filled with bookies who can’t move close enough to each other to open up branches with no other motive than that of planting their allocated 4 FOBts in the poorest working class areas, its simply depressing.

Tell you a quick story.. I don’t know if this still stands but a few years ago Ladbrokes managers were given some sort of annual bonus according to how much profit the shop had accumulated, I watched a fella I knew pretty well playing roulette on the FOBt, to say he was doing his bollocks in was an understatement, the guy was close to tears as he desperately tried to win his money back ( he was in for thousands ). Well things went from bad to worse for this poor fella when I just happened to glance at the counter to witness the manager snigger and laugh each time the poor fucker chased his money back, every time they laughed a losing number rolled in. I didn’t realise that the counter staff could see whether the spin was a winner or loser before the poor fucker who has risked his money sees it for himself. These heartless bastards gleefully laughed while witnessing a grown man piss his life down the toilet. I’m not happy about people losing their jobs in the bookmaking industry but the thoughts of that day are never far from my mind.

This was fucking years ago, If I am talking shite about the staff seeing the result before the punter then please tell me that i’m talking bollocks. It was that old roulette where the blonde bird told you what the number was, think it was the first software.

Hahaha no mate not Welsh, I am in ainsdale (not far from Liverpool) but I travel most days for work. Up for a pint anytime though mate !!

OOOHHHH Ainsdale, that looks like a right snobby area of Liverpool lad, does ur butler take Macey for her walk lol. Working with autism has taken me over a good part of England including most of Dorset, Doncaster and the borders but I’ve only visited Liverpool once. I’m a huge Beatles fan so I popped down to the Albert dock to visit the museum, that was years ago when they still had that huge fuck off map of Britain in the river that nonce used to present the weather on ( don’t know if ur old enough to remember ).

Thanks for the feedback troops it makes interesting reading, general consensus suggests paranoia that the bookies will try any underhanded tricks to keep these fucking things as addictive as possible, I agree.. in fact I’m sure they are working on it as we speak, they should contact Big Time Gaming as they seem to be making a good job of influencing addiction. I think the UKGC is doing us Brits a service, the £2 limit and the Gamstop register helps those amongst us that need it (myself included), do we think that the UKGC should monitor how these machines are designed to be played after the £2 is introduced?, I doubt they will but the opinion of seasoned gamblers on this forum suggests that there is still grounds for concern.

You will see a raft of games that are made to get around these rules unfortunately. There will be roulette games that are £2 per spin and you will be able to lock in £20 for 10 spins on an autoplay or £100 for 50 spins etc and it will then show you a wheel where you “could” win £100 and then you will be able to take your “winnings” to a roulette wheel and hey presto, it’s just the same but technically £2 a go lol

It ain’t gonna interest guys like us though I don’t think, I always played them £10-20 a spin hoping for a quick couple of hundred within a few spins, I think they will concentrate on overloading the terminals with slots and even maybe concentrate on the bingo market, they are guaranteed to take a massive loss in income though.
