Of course not haz. I do think that everyone should stand up against CTs tho and ask for evidence otherwise things simply get out of control in the world and we end up with brexit and trump. Whoop!

Saw this and thought it would be right up your street. Let me know your thoughts.

I tried to engage you in conversation on a topic I thought would be close to your heart and you completely ignored it. Heh. Ta.

    I will take a look ?

I don’t understand how the two are linked… Unless of course you are dropping a 4 yr old article to try to discredit the guardian newspaper. Otherwise I’d need more info m the link. Thx.

It wasn’t aimed at you. Just a general overview of my thoughts on CTs.

I base my views on evidence not feelings. If someone provides me with (or I find) evidence that counters my views I investigate it and I’m always happy to hold up my hands a say I’m wrong because that means I’ve learned something.

Divide and rule is the name of the game, if you a busy staring at CTs you miss the most basic things. If they can get you to fear something then they can get you to fear something else. When you are afraid you’ll give up certain rights or at the very least allow rights to be taken from other parts of our society. It’s happening right now mate but you’re busy worrying about something else.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

@argyl53 I think you’re right, these things can’t be left unchallenged. People often have these half baked ideas due to their small circle of friends or family influences. I’ve personally debated lots of conspiracy theorists in my time and have a similar takeaway. My own working hypothesis is that some people have a hole they need to fill, a need to believe something.

Religion and conspiracy theories are very similar in this regard, you can’t prove a negative. Theres nothing to say that I’m not hooked up to the matrix being used by aliens as a battery cell or that the world is flat or that I was created by God to expose conspiracy theories as the pish they are and enlighten people to the true path. Other than the balance of probability and my own experiences. If any of those things are true what would actually change in my existence on this planet? Nothing. Which is precisely what makes CTs/religion so enticing to some  people.

It gives you a sense of inside knowledge, of a band of brothers fighting the true fight, that you are somehow special because you watched a YouTube video that told the truth that they are trying to hide from you. Haha..

Tl;Dr – its important to challenge nonsense when you hear it otherwise people will think it’s acceptable to speak it. It’s important to challenge yourself on your viewpoints so that you can continue to learn. Being wrong is only bad if you refuse to learn and grow.

Good luck in your quest of self betterment awesomex.

Yeah like you’ve ever back tracked on anything you’ve ever said Liberty ?

You seem to think your a walking talking Gospel truth teller who knows everything.

even if I even proved you wrong about anything. Your guaranteed response would be 50 paragraphs long starting with “yeah but”

I have to ask at this point, do you have an issue with reading? Seems to me that you only take in a tiny proportion of what people write and only the things you deem negative.

I see awesomex has fully come out of the closet as a nutcase this last week. Bravo sir. I look forward to the hilarity of yourself and just basic [understanding of everything] bouncing off each other.

I think an easier categorisation would be sensible vs insensible.

    P. S. Mortal engines is awful. Save yourself 2hrs.

This is the difference bergen critical thinking and just swallowing your media of choice guys. Please take note. If you really want to believe a conspiracy theory you owe it to yourself to try as hard as possible to prove the conspiracy theory wrong. Don’t just hoover up crap from the same trough as usual. Try to prove yourself wrong.

The thing we need to focus on is plastic in the oceans. That’s a real problem. But this global warming bullshit is some of the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. It’s not something humanity can do anything about. Besides, we’re in the coldest 5% of the temperature on earth since it’s origin. We might even be affected by super suns from other solar systems without even knowing about it, so to think us tiny little humans on a tiny little planet are godlike creatures who are so important in the big picture of things is incredibly naive. It’s typical human behaviour though – Make the image of some sort of god to resemble man, and then think man is godlike.

Well I’m not going to play a part in turning backinamo.com in to a site for debating conspiracy theories. Suffice to say the level of evidence and international scientific consensus on man-made climate change is overwhelming and comes from bodies of research with highly diverse political, economic and national backgrounds which do not share vested interests. As I say, I’ll leave the topic there, I just mention because I used to be sceptical on man-made climate change until I really looked at all the huge range of research and evidence and found the conclusion is simply undeniable.

@argyl53 I think he a wants us to accept it as fact, much like he did when someone told it to him. He’ll deflect. Sadly there are a lot of people who’ve spent their life being gaslighted and cognitive dissonance won’t let them escape now. Great powerplay by someone.
