Eejit – good work. My posts about credit cards got held for moderation when this thread first started then got posted all at once heh.

    Mr B -…. *sigh*

I really don’t understand the point.

1)You created a thread about caring casinos.

2)several of us replied to your points.

3)you ignored us and argued with eejit

Now you’ve created a call out thread when you know they aren’t welcome here, basics boy got a strike for one a couple of days ago.

I strongly suspect that you’ll use any warning for doing something you know is wrong as ‘evidence’ of mod bias which is just laughable.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.

You don’t seem to be interested in a debate, rather you want people to validate your views.

Ejjit – ban credit card deposits. If you are using a credit card to deposit you have a problem.

    1) people kill themselves, lose their homes and their family over gambling addiction. Whether it’s as bad as class a drugs idk but you can’t recover from being dead so as this is one outcome of gambling I’d say its right up there.

    2) as dune said and many others including myself have said in the past, they are in the business of taking your money away, caring isn’t very high in their agenda but let’s look at it this way – you and a friend bet £10 on an arbitrary outcome and you win, do you feel bad winning? Should you? You both knew the rules of the bet and the risk you were taking. Casinos operate within the same rules.

    3) I think they should demand kyc upfront and immediately lock withdrawls, they also shouldn’t accept credit card deposits. Other than that what can they do? I guess they could limit the bet size but that would upset people who feel they are in control. Do we aim everything at the lowest common denominator? Just because jenny drinks 5 pints and stabs her bf to death does that mean no one should be allowed more than 4 pints on a night out? I’m not trying to be glib… Just it’s a difficult thing to regulate.

4)as the casimos won’t ban credit card deposits or force kyc before deposits are allowed the government must.

5)unfortunately if someone slips through the net they will hit the bottom and hopefully recover.

Look… I’m not a fan of casinos. I wish gamstop/care etc had existed when I had a gambling problem. These days it’s easier than ever to force yourself to stop but there’s more that needs to be done. What that is I don’t fully know other than the points listed above.

Oh and no I disagree in the strongest possible terms that a customer service agent deserves to be given shit because someone can’t handle theirs. It’s laughable, you go into currys and buy a fridge, take it home with you and set fire to it and in the manual it states you need to register to get the 2 year guarantee but hey you don’t read manuals why would you? 1 year and 6 months later it breaks and you call up to be told your mistake, are you going to shout at a min wage slave because you’re sad about your choices?

If at any point you feel like shouting at some poor human being trying to get by in life when you are gambling then you are the problem and you have the problem and.. Ban yourself for as long as you can. Make yourself better.

Gunner – you are describing capitalism.

Eat too much mcdonalds, Cadbury etc etc you’ll get very fat and die early.

Smoke at all? You’ll probably die from it.

Drink too much? You’ll die from it.

Drink too many sugary drinks? You’ll likely die from it.

    Cross the road without looking?

    Drink too much water?

    Etc

    Etc

    Etc

People need to own their crap. There has never been a better time to be a problem gambler. If gamstop had existed when I was one I’d be much richer than I am today. One or ten really bad loss/es and I’d have banned myself but nope, people don’t like taking responsibility for it.

Anything can be bad for you if you do it too much and most of the things that can be bad for you without moderation are sold to you by a company. It’s all evil or none of it is. Either way IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH GAMBLING THEN BAN YOURSELF FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. Own your mistakes and make your life better.

If you can put £20 on a week (£1000 a year, £10000 a decade, if you’re 20 now around 50k over your lifetime) and be fine with it, consider it entertainment and have a laugh, even occasionally win then good for you.

    I couldn’t so I stopped. Simple.

As it seems to be lost in the ether I’ll be brief.

I’ve been a problem gambler. I got furious at casinos for their extended withdrawl times and have reversed and lost the lot more times than I can remember. However, I’ve always blamed myself. It’s my choice to do it, I don’t have to. I had a problem, God I wish gamstop had existed back when I had problems. Well over 100k blown on a far-flung dream haha..

Tbh that’s extremely conservative, I just don’t want to really add it all up as it will make me sad at the waste. It was all my fault, not the casinos, all me. People need to own their actions.

It’s hard to police problem gambling, if jenny drinks 5 pints and then glasses the barman should we all be limited to 4 pints? It’s difficult.

This is what I think should happen tho, casino’s should be forced to do kyc before taking a single penny from you and should be forced to remove reverse withdrawl options…

Most of all they should be banned from taking a deposit from a credit card as if you are using that to gamble you have serious problems.

You are so patient eejit. I have a theory that if you let a just basics these run for long enough you’ll witness him go through the 5 stages of grief. It’s quite comedy watching them occur and sure beats trying to educate him heh.

He starts in denial about reality moving onto his favourite stage, anger.. He can stay here for days or minutes depending on his mood before trying to bargain for any middle ground at all, then gets sad that no one listens to him and if the thread lasts long enough he reaches acceptance, not that he’s wrong, but that he can’t get the ‘truth’ through to all of us haha..

Anyway.. That is my contribution to another basics classic thread.

Here we go again. <span style=”font-size: 1rem;”>Just basics spouting crap. A whole wall of utter nonsense. It’s really very simple, read the terms and conditions. If you don’t like them don’t do it.</span>

Casinos are designed to take money from you. That is their business model. They sell dreams for cash. If you find it abhorrent then you aren’t alone but they aren’t breaking the law so all you can do is push for the law to be changed.

<span style=”font-size: 1rem;”> If you think casino games are rigged and yet still gamble at them then you’re demented. If you think some poor guy earning a crap wage deserves shit from you for something they have no control over then you are a dick. I’d give you an analogy but I think it would go above your head. </span>

Zero love from me, I think you’re a tinfoil donkey who loves drama, thinks he’s cleverly pushing boundaries when really you’re acting like a child.

Firstly take a deep breath. It seems terrible but its completely possible to get out of this and lots of people have suffered worse

1-gamstop as long as you can exclusion

2-contact the banks that you owe money too and d domain you are in financial difficulty, they will ask your income and expenditure and talk you through your options. Most likely a freeze on costs and a repayment plan from the sounds of things..

3-talk to your family about your problem

4-relax.. You’ve done all you can, get a job, forget about gambling, it’s not for you. You have a compulsive addictive nature. Manage it. You are young and can recover from this. You just need to avoid gambling, you aren’t missing out much.. Lead a full and happy life and one day you’ll look back on this and realise it was a great thing that happened to you. Better now than when you are 30 or 40 married with kids, you’ve just set yourself back a bit that’s all  Plenty of time to rectify it .. Just avoid gambling
