Honestly the best thing you can do is tell your partner, the longer you’re allowed to do this in secret the longer it will continue. If you have big problems with gambling then you’re obviously lying to cover up your tracks. I’ve been there and been in a much worse situation than you to the point where I was contemplating suicide. Dont be like me and dont let gambling consume you. Beyond his initial disappointment I’m sure your partner would want to help and not see you miserable from losing another months pay. You’ve got to break the cycle somewhere. Sign up to gamestop as others have said, it could literally be a life saver.

As someone who was once a ‘hater’ I can probably provide a little insight as to why it happens. People who usually target the streamers/content creators are probably miserable themselves or have at least some form of severely negative effect from gambling.

Personally, I was in a pretty bad place so when I was seeing people deposit and play with thousands it  made me feel a little sick knowing that was at least part funded by the losses of others.

It also doesnt help you have many casino affiliates who are morally bankrupt and dont actually care about the community or indeed the negative effects gambling can have.

My advice to those people is to just stay away from all videos, theres really no point in targeting/harassing someone because you cant control yourself. Take responsibility for your own actions and stop wasting your time with hate towards people.

Theres good and bad people within the streaming world, some aggressively shove links down our throats and dont warn people of the dangers of gambling. Some only post big wins, some play with fake money. It gives good guys like the bandit a bad name.

Steve is universally liked as can be seen from comments on here and videos elsewhere, that’s because hes genuine like Rolla in many ways. Theres plenty that are  not though and its unfortunately a product of the growth in streaming and the many cowboys who try their luck that he gets so much hate now.

Hey man, been in a similar situation myself. If you want to talk on the phone or something more personal (no homo) then I wouldn’t mind helping. I’ve dug myself out of a few holes in my time

I’ve been donating odd amounts in my bank, I’ve bought this song multiple times now haha. If you’re a mere peasant like me then you can still help by rounding off your balance every now and then such as 105 in your bank then donate a fiver etc. I do it with other charities too but the odd £1/£5 or whatever soon adds up. I would only spend it on Um bongo/Capri suns anyway

Honestly I wouldn’t bother with live chat on streams. There’s some right weirdos on there as I’ve found out.

There is definitely fake streamers out there so it’s the scumbags doing it which cause a ripple effect throughout the community and then everyone gets accused.

That being said, I think it’s relatively rare now that streamers are using fake funds. Most of the British ones are legit but some definitely have questionable morals. The problem is and will always be that some people (myself included) have been effected badly by gambling so it’s a sensitive issue.

Imagine spending your rent money, you’re angry and then visit a live stream to watch someone making a living from referring people to casinos to lose. This is why you get such accusations but people want to deflect blame and instead of doing something constructive about their problems they vent and cause grief.

If they think everyone is fake or immoral then the only solution would be not to watch. I’m not sure why people waste their life watching such content all day when they hate the person doing it and they’re getting further inspired to gamble by keeping ‘in the loop’.

Jesus, no HD porn for you then good sir! Bad times indeed. It’s pretty crippling though for someone who uploads videos like yourself to be getting those speeds. I would advise against shadow and try and sort it out with your ISP really as Im sure you already have a good PC so it’s empty money really paying for a subscription service.

I’m confused, did you start up the new account after the 5 year period had ended? If so it’s unreasonable of you to ask for losses back in my eyes. However, if this was done during that period then absolutely yes!

Been there myself many times over. Gambling because you’re depressed but depressed because you’re gambling too much. It’s a vicious circle. I used therapy to overcome it, speak to someone over at Gamcare and you can go speak to a therapist for free in your local area 0808 8020 133. Would echo what others say though and find a hobby, I use gaming as my outlet now when I want to blow off steam. There’s always hope my man!

I find the phrase quite odd. I would look up to the sign staring at me when I was emptying my wallet in to a FOBT and thinking they don’t really want me to stop do they. Most of these bookies make their money from addicts, they ain’t too interested in someone doing the odd tenner in there. They are purposely made to be highly addictive and then they say to stop.

Similar situation to me, if you feel you can’t control yourself join gamstop immediately, did it about 4 weeks ago best things I’ve ever done. Some people can control it others can’t, gamstop is for us who can’t control it. Every time I had some spare money I put it into casinos. Lost thousands and got into big dept

Do you still gamble or have you cut it out completely? Either way, glad you’re in control now mate. Debt is a big hurdle but the more we gamble the worse it will become. Hope you’re in a better place now man

Great post my friend honest and sincere. I am a recovering addict myself and I am the forums ‘boring fucker’ because I bang on about Gamstop constantly. I think the UK is making huge steps in dealing with problem gambling, firstly we had the Gamstop register introduced in May and now the Fobt reduction this coming April, these are 2 huge moves which will help thousands of problem gamblers in Britain, it certainly has helped me. This Christmas is going to be shit for me with my DMP doling out my hard earned to creditors but I’m happy as I know that I’m not getting myself in any deeper. Hope you have a nice Christmas mate. Take care.

It may be boring to those in control who don’t understand but there’s many here that are in some sort of crisis themselves so it could really help and change someone’s life.

Gamstop is the real saver for me as I was pissing up thousands online without a care for me or those around me. I could gamble in secret and make up some excuse as to why I would be poor all the time. It’s good to talk anyway and sometimes it’s very difficult to tell those you love what mess you are in. That’s why I made this post, I think speaking to someone who has actually been there is good therapy in a way and can provide a bit of hope when sometimes you have none.

Appreciate your kind words and happy to see you’ve sorted yourself out man!

    All the best for Christmas!

I went one year in my younger years of not withdrawing once throughout an entire year. It wasn’t a year without wins, I would win and shove the lot on something ridiculous. I remember winning £3000 on roulette from a tenner and then blowing the lot on poker in a single game thinking I was a big man. I won £750 off a £2 free bet and lost it all in one spin.

No matter how much I won, I would always want more or always play on because I enjoyed the rush too much. I think my total deposits for that particular year was around £15,000 with zero withdrawal. I would chase and chase until my balls fell off. That’s addiction though eh
