[newbie alert] – I dip in and out of forums and rarely contribute, but this thread has me interested.
I’ve been wondering about Chip lately too. As mentioned, his stakes and attitude have changed since lockdown but it’s the Pokemon association which concerns me the most.
He’s massively upped his content creation and he’s slotted (pardon the pun) into the typical YouTube influencer style of ‘MASSIVE WIN’ with shocked poses outlined in neon etc. That’s endemic in YT unfortunately and although corny, I have nothing against that as you need to try stand out.
With regards to promoting just big wins and not losses, well, with the exception of Bandit and Rolla, who would be entertaining enough to put out a losing session, so what’s the point in him creating a boring video? I can accept that too. However, it should be clear that losses are sustained and not just glamourising the wins.
Regarding increased stakes and association with certain casinos, then anything untoward is going to spoil it for the rest of us – yes, I started streaming myself but am struggling to be honest – I can’t win shit! I have no problem with streamers playing with bonus money if it’s obvious as we can all do that, but as long as the significant terms are disclosed if they’re different to regular bonuses. For example, MAX CASHOUT as although a perfectly acceptable T&C, it is often not disclosed.
Taking a fee from a casino and depositing it. This is another contentious issue and there is some overlap with bonus money. OK, say I refer a player and get affiliate commission. I then deposit into a casino. Is this regarded as the casino funding my play? It has in a roundabout way, but I received the commission for work I done for them and it’s needed to fund the stream. So if he has received a fee from a casino for a video and then deposited it I don’t see the issue with that, personally. But this is pure conjecture anyway unless somebody has irrefutable proof…? If a casino has paid him for genuine work and he’s used it to play, then hey ho, he got a good deal. However I don’t think that’s a good deal for any casino to be honest.
However, Pokemon and gambling. Hmmmm. If he wants to discuss Pokemon in a slot stream chat, then although weird for a 40 year old in my opinion, it’s fine. But my worries are that the Pokemon content could cross promote the gambling channel either inadvertently through YouTube’s algorithm and creator association, or directly. I’m sure I saw him do an ‘unwrapping’ video of a $2000 pack of cards. Again, although odd to me, there is nothing wrong with that BUT they have to be kept entirely separate. Are they? Can they?
I’m on the fence.
