Hi there. I am usually a lurker myself and prefer the wit of others BUT…
Before Steve gives the money away to charity he does need to get some legal advice as he may be in breach of the ASA and CAP guidelines for promotion of free draws. This isn’t my area of expertise but i do work in marketing and have to adhere to these rules myself for all free giveaways that we manage for companies we work with. Unless it is stated in terms and conditions at the point of entering the draw that it may be cancelled at any time (which to be honest i cannot remember!) then a complaint to the ASA (advertising standards agency) by a disgruntled entrant could not only give you a massive fine but also still force you to still run the competition. I do remember reading a while ago about “abuse” of competition entries by multiple votes which allowed the competition owner to not choose the first drawn but they still had to offer that prize to the the next drawn person.
It is a minefield and as this has got a lot of peoples knockers in a twist then i suggest you check on this as it may ending up biting you in the bum and in the long term costing you a packet.
I like that you are giving to charity but hold off till you check mate.
