Don’t really know what else you want Gamstop to do to be honest.
They have given you the options, which are both prima facie acceptable to me. They are saying either you signed up yourself and you’re not able to cancel, or that if your mate did it, send us evidence and we will pursue him for identity fraud.
They are never going to say (without evidence) oh ok it was your mate so we’ll just reduce it to 6 months and not take any further action. Otherwise everyone would say that who changes their mind.
Sorry to hear that mate hope you get sorted, you had a decent bike in a previous post I recall hopefully could get that sold pretty quick to sort it tomorrow ?
Whilst you’re about Seedy could you sort out and email exchange for me in the legal services thread – last few comments explain it in that thread. Top man ?
That information is a good start, would allow me to get a death certificate, make enquiries with the probate registry as to whether there is a current pending application and also check the title deeds to the house – so can make very good progress just on that.
If between us we try and catch Seedy when hes next about to sort for us.
Hi,
No worries, hopefully Seedy can sort this soon.
In answer to your question, providing the house is solely in your Nans name then no, they cannot possibly sell it or even transfer it to themselves without probate (and getting probate is what makes the will public)
If one of them was added to the deeds during your nans lifetime then it would be possible to avoid probate and therefore it not become public but this is probably unlikely. Once we have email contact I can look into this for you and check the deeds and advise more accurately.
you should also know that the probate registry (who issue grants of probate) are currently experiencing huge delays and so it could just be delayed coming through. Not all applications take the same amount of time as each will depend on the complexity of the case.
Hope this helps for now, and once we have emails we can chat more fluidly and look into this for you
Nice one Bio!
I can only get the Friday off work so going down Friday for the final live day one, and then will go back Saturday for either day 2 or a side event if I have busted! – Maybe see you on the final table, I’ll randomly ask players if they understand RTP and see if I can find you haha
1I hope you all get sorted, and get back what you are due (i.e unfair interest charges). I had considerable involvement in claims against these companies when I have been acting for other people to recover charges etc. The £13,800 refund someone above mentions is a huge result, the highest I ever saw was about £9k but so many claims at that level is why the major players have gone bust and more will follow.
In response to comments about people not taking responsibility for their own actions, you are completely disregarding the fact that lenders also have a huge level of responsibility to the borrower. That is the sole reason for these claims, and the reason so many are successful – the lender did not follow the required regulations when making a decision to borrow.
If you suddenly found out online roulette was rigged etc, and the providers hadn’t been following the regulations in place to make it a fair and level playing field, you would be happy to claim back your losses. In that scenario you wouldn’t expect people to be saying “you gambled, you lost and now your blaming someone else”.
It’s the exact same scenario, this just puts it into context for you.
Hi @Seedy – please pass my email address on to Dynamik23
drop me an email when you get it mate, but generally speaking probate is needed where there are assets of a certain value to be dealt with, however, some assets can be dealt with without probate (i.e Santander would release up to £50,000 without probate, but Barclays only £25,000 and NS&I up to £10,000). Probate is always needed for properties and shares, so it depends what assets were in the Estate as to whether or not probate is required.
Speak soon.
Chris
Hi Shak,
sorry to hear about your situation, and yes you can claim back interest and charges from these companies if the loans were “unaffordable” and amounted to “irresponsible lending” which a lot of them back then were.
Even if you still have an outstanding amount, defaulted or have CCJs you can still can claim and part of the compensation will be removing the negative marks against your credit file as you never should have been given the loans to start with.
My advice would be email each of the companies you had a loan with stating “you feel the loans were unaffordable based on your income at that time, that you had to continually take out loans to survive month after month and that they amount to irresponsible lending”. This simple sentence has all you need to make them start an investigation and they then have 8 weeks to do so. Most will make you an offer to settle and those that don’t you can refer to the Financial Ombudsman free of charge.
Wonga is sadly in administration so you can still claim on their website they have details of how to (I think they stated most people who could claim were sent an email to do so, so check your email inbox from whatever address they had first). You are still able to claim but as they are in administration (i.e going bust) you wont get the full claim amount but would still get something.
Hope this helps and all the best.

aside from watching Steve on the gamble ladder the actual game is gash
1I just hope everyone who was playing (and noticed) cranked it up to £40 a spin and didn’t just carry on at 40p!!
2Just a quick post about the under 21 championship – tonight France play Romania at 8pm
France are 6/4 Romania are 11/2 and the draw is 4/5.
now admittedly I don’t know a great deal about under 21 football but I have NEVER seen the odds of a draw be odds on! (I have checked with sky and b365 in case it was an error but both offering the same odds).
Can any of our experts explain why this might be as to me France look a huge price but odds on for a draw seems strange….
Both teams already qualified so not playing for anything both will most likely rest players
Thanks Malky, I did think it would be you should shed some light ? that being said though in senior comps you don’t tend to see odds on for a draw in the same kind of situations do you? (I.e both teams qualified and resting players). Maybe you do and I’ve just never seen it.
Eiter way France at 6/4 ??
