There is a potential for me to take up your offer. There is a big chance that there could be some issues with my nans will once it becomes public record as the executors won’t let me and my brother and sisters see it. I’ll ask again when the times comes but it does look likely that we will need to speak to a solicitor about it. If that’s ok?

Yeah of course that’s fine mate, once the executors have applied for probate the will becomes public and there’s a free government website you can check for when it’s been issued (you can then order a copy of the probate and the will for about £11).

From the date probate is issued there is then a 6 month window to challenge the will/claim against the estate so there is plenty of time to assess everything and decide what the family want to do.

If you give me a shout when the times comes I’d be happy to help.

Don’t mean to sound like I’m having a dig at all because that’s not my intention – but why book another appointment for just a week away if it’s going to take you a couple of months to save up ? I know you’re saying “in case something happens before then” but what are you hoping might happen ?

My only advice would be if you keep cancelling and booking for a week later, knowing that without something unexpected you won’t be able to make it, they might get frustrated with you and refuse another appointment for 12 months which is something they mention in their cancellation policy you posted (I appreciate that refers to missed appointments or short notice cancellation) but if you did this a few times they might treat you the same way as it’s equally frustrating for them as a business to manage.

No charge, you’re all good – only charging for short notice cancellations I.e less than 24 hours

I’m a lawyer and happy to look at it for you if you have a copy of paperwork etc – at very least you would have signed some form of waiver/agreement before they carried out any work to protect against any Liability they may incur

Don’t think I have an exact favourite moment, and whilst I of course love seeing him win and hope he does everytime, a small part of me always hopes a bonus is terrible as that seems to provoke some golden comedy one liners from him!! ??

Have you tried a Provident loan? Not ideal by any means, but it beats being in agony. 500 borrowed would mean paying back 8-900 quid but you can pay it back in your own time.

Cheers, Thats the route I think I’ll have to go down, just horrible paying charges like that !

Sorry to hear that dude, hope you get sorted must be horrible being left in that state.

I had something similar happen recently trying to sort an engagement ring for my parter. Save my arse off, haven’t been out or gambled for 6 months and got £2k together to get it all ordered and paid for – told it would be 6 weeks to make/size it etc so planned a weekend away to coincide with this to propose to the Mrs. This Friday got an email to basically say ring is now ready but balance of £500 to be paid for it to be released – no on is up front and honest nowadays are they!

Like you I can’t afford this extra in time to have the ring for the proposal weekend; and can’t cancel the proposal weekend as lose the cost of hotel which is non refundable.

Hope you get sorted, just wanted to share mine too so you know you’re not the only one who gets screwed by this sort of thing as that’s how it feel sometimes isn’t it!

Afraid not mate, only UK taxes, but I do have close contacts for really high net worth individuals/companies if you’re talking £25m plus, otherwise it’s not worth the costs of setting up the planning etc
